I'm working on a voice controlled robot project, and looking for a mic array to help improve voice input.  I trying to decide between UMA-8 and UMA-8-SP and looking for guidance.  The speaker output of the UMA-8-SP might come in handy, but only if it doesn't degrade some other aspect. If I'm reading things right, the SP model looks to be the exact same as the UMA-8, but with more of its board populated. Here are my questions:
  1. Aside from speaker and jack, are there any technical differences between the two devices? For example, do both support the latest features and firmware upgrades?
  2. I see the enclosure is only for the UMA-8.  Has anyone had success in modifying the enclosure to fit the UMA-8-SP?

Hi Brian,

1. Aside from the speakers and the jack, they are the same device and they both do support the latest features and firmware upgrades.
2. Unfortunately, quite a lot of modifications are needed to be done in order to fit the UMA-8SP into the UMA-8.
