I'm interested in using the UMA-8 USB mic array - V2.0 as a way the capture the noise that a saw motor makes before it gets chocked up, so i can shut the motor down. The mic array doesn't have any digital I/O, so i'm going to have to capture the audio data then send it to some other hardware such as the raspberry pi 3 to fire a relay once the specific frequency is caught, so with that said can i send the audio data to the raspberry pi through the usb because i see that the raspberry pi doesn't have any I2S I/O?

@musclemania05

Sounds like an interesting application but please note that the UMA8 does have algorithms to remove background noise. In other words, not optimal here.. :-)

You may want to look at the MCH streamer instead: www.minidsp.com/products/usb-audio-interface/mchstreamer
This unit will do PDM mems microphone to USB audio. This way you can have some little piece of code on your RPI that will a)record the signal, b) detect /isolate noise c) trigger your external relay.

Just a thought though it's a bit of a DIY setup.. Some experimental work to be done.. :-)
