Hi,

I'm really interested in the U-DAC8 and since I have a set of Genelec monitors : Three 8020a's, Two 8030a's and 1 7050b as subwoofer,

I would love to know if I can watch bluray rips from my HTPC and have all the benefits of a full DTS, Dolby Digital.

Looks like with the U-DAC8 I'm covered as far as music files go (Lossless Flac), but I have doubts about 5.1 movies.

Is there something special I need to do, like rerouting audio channels to JRiver Media Center, or VLC?

I'm really looking forward to this U-DAC8 unit since all I have read is good reviews! BTW I'm in Windows 10.

@Olistreet

Thanks for your interest in our platforms.
The UDAC8 is a simple multichannel USB audio interface. It shows up as an 8ch in your PC/MAC. What you can stream to it will depend on your software. :-)

i.e. if you have a software player able to stream and decode 8ch audio, then yes it will indeed stream 5.1, Not a problem.
You just need to make sure that you have a dolby decoder basically. e.g. wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Surround_Sound
Basically, your question is more of a software question (e.g. you can ask Jriver for more details on configuration of decoder)

@Atacgene

Sure, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.. :-)
We've got a good step by step app note here:https://www.minidsp.com/applications/audio-streaming/u-dac8-with-audirvana
