Hello, I have a question about volume control on the UDAC8. I am on windows 8. I have four usb audio devices (3 powered speakers and a dac for headphones) and use virtual audio cable audio repeater to mirror sound to all output devices. I use foobar for audio playback and power mixer for volume control. I am looking for an alternate solution to the audio repeater but I would like to continue to use foobar and power mixer for playback and volume control if possible. So my question is if the channel pairs of the UDAC8 will be exposed to the operating system for volume control. I see from the manual for the UDAC8 that there is a volume control tool that is included in the udac8 driver package for windows. I'm wondering what other volume control options are available beyond that volume tool for controlling the volume on the operation system. Thanks for your help.

Hi Again, I am thinking that adjusting the volume control of the individual channels/pairs is only available using the volume control tool that is shown in the manual on page 12. I am fine with that but was just curious if that was the only option. I don't think I will be changing the volume frequently on the individual channels so will just set the volume up for those once and then adjust the master volume for all channels together using power mixer. I have another question. Will the 8 channels be exposed to a pro audio software like ableton? Thanks for your help.

Hi Again, One more question. Once installed on windows the udac will show under control panel - sound - playback so i will make that my default device. Will the udac also show under the recording tab? I would need that in order to route audio to my headphones using the listen playback feature. Then I can just mute the udac with power mixer when i put my headphones on. I can understand if these are not the most exciting questions but i just need to be sure i know what i'm getting into since the item cannot be returned. thanks again.

- Yes, you indeed have control channels separately or linked (stereo link 1&2, etc) or master volume. That's the location for control of the driver. That's indeed the only place like 90% of piece of gear we've seen before.. :-) (i.e. at the driver level).

- UDAC8 is a DAC out so not a recording device. Not 100% sure to understand the part of the recording I'm afraid.. :-)
I guess that you could flash the USBStreamer (inside board) with the firmware of the USBStreamer to DIY something using the Toslink in, but that's a bit DIY though. Out of the tech support structure as not really tested I'm afraid..
