devteam,

Are the Toslink Rx/Tx connectors installed on the USBstreamer board inside the U-DAC8??

Thanks,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Sorry for missing your inquiry. In answer to your question, yes they indeed are. Note however that we have a custom UDAC8 firmware to hide the non useful channel. If you want to use the internal Toslink, you just need to load the default USBStreamer firmware(10x10) and you'll be good to go.

So are you saying that I could use those connectors and run the lines to an external DAC? I have a NanoAVR and I'm trying to figure out what products could I use to take the 7.1 in the HDMI and send the .1 channel to the R/L speaker then roll off everything below 60hz an send to an external DAC for the Main to one DAC and another DAC for the subs.

Well, the U-DAC8 has a USB input and not HDMI. You could configure an interface between the two how you see fit.

But yes, you can use the TOsLINK connectors with the appropriate firmware loaded and software running. I've been using my U-DAC8 unit with an application called EKIO from Lupisoft. I'm not streaming to the USB input, but rather utilizing the TOSLINK input and then configuring to the eight outputs from there.

I find JRiver and similar applications much too cumbersome for my setup.

Dave.

I think I mixed up products. I was thinking nanoAVR -HRA. I'm guessing it's based on the same board except have an HDMI interface coming in.

@ steven2583a

Just in case, to make sure there is no confusion, the nanoAVR isn't using USBStreamer though. It's an HDMI in/out + analog out (for processed out). The USB does "not" carry any audio. A quick look at the user manual will provide you with more details I think.. :-)
