Hi, Is the miniDAC8 board shipping now? I notice is says "Not Available" on the product page but I was able to add one to my shopping cart and pay for it.

Also, will it be shipped with all necessary cables to mate it to a miniSHARC? (Not sure if all connections are made by placing this board directly atop the other, or if cables are required to interconnect them).

EDIT: What I bought and what I'm interested in is the "miniDAC8" board, not the U-DAC8 box.

Thanks,
mac

@ Mac,

We've actually already starting shipment on these. Website shopping cart just needs to be updated.
When mated on top of an existing miniSHARC board, you'll need to solder some header. It's not exactly plug&play. Best that you contact our team for some feedback.

I have already received a miniDAC8 board. It showed up about 2 weeks ago...

Do I simply add a 30 pin header to both the miniSHARC and the DAC board and then ribbon cable the two together? For power do I provide it +5VDC from the miniSHARC board?

Did you get an answer to this? I'm considering the same setup for a project.

Thank you miniDSP Team!

"We realized that we’d be making the task our customer harder so sourced all items to make it plug&play. Our team just prepared it and it will ship by tomorrow.
That unit will be all stacked and already configured to be work as it should (i.e. side connectors, resoldered as they should) It will be plug&play. :-)"

Dear All,

Sorry for the delay and being quiet about this miniDAC8. Based on the few orders, we realized that we could ease the task for some of you. So we decided to source all the extra parts to make it more plug&play. If you order a minISHARC + miniDAC8, we'd configure them to be ready. If you order separately, best to contact us so we can help. Note that we've updated the miniSHARC user manual. Thanks again for your patience.

@Sly,

Please feel free to start a tech support ticket with us (minidsp.desk.com) and we'd be happy to suggest some ideas. Easiest is to use female 30pin (on miniSHARC) to male breakaway (bottom of the miniDAC8) such that they stack on top of each other. Do let us know if you have some questions and we can see how we can help.

Thank you. Looking over the manual for the minisharc, it looks like you have both 30 pin headers connected to the miniDAC8. Is this true? Do we need to connect both 30 pin headers from the minisharc to the minidac or do we just connect the I/O expansion header?
