I'm running u-dac8 since a couple of days on my htpc with success. It is totally comparable to my oppo 95 when switching on fly and I'm stll lacking linear power supply to run entire htpc and udac8 itself. With those I expect to surpass my modded oppo 95.
Anyway I have a sinple suggestion to ask: in jriver it will be better to chase "usb streamer audio drive [Asio]" or "u-dac8 Output [kernel streaming]"?

Another question: is it normal that with Asio mode selected when I change volume setting from windows 8.1 taskbar it correctly works changing the volume?
With my 2 channel audio-gd master 7 dac if I change volume or disactivate the same from taskbar it doesn't happen anything (as it should be in Asio mode, not being connected to windows). Please clarify.

@ decapitate85

Great to hear you're happy with the U-DAC8 :-) Sounds like you have a nice setup here with Jriver.

- Based on the wiki (wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Audio_Output_Modes), sounds like it's the difference between WDM(Windows internal drivers) and ASIO.
- Volume control is correct. We do it on the interface.

It is indeed a very good product. I surpassed the modded oppo 95 with just a DIY usb cable without +5v connected.

The linear PSU is being shipped today and by the end of the week it should be with me for the final tests.
