I am very happy to see U-DAC8 . Because Using USBStreamer I2S socket is very hard. The I2S transform line must be short as possible .
And I want to know which AKM Chip do U-DAC8 use ??

Searching the net for info about this chip, I only find info about application in a DVD-player, no documented applications in audio devices.

This is a little strange, since AKM introduced the chip in 2009. What was the reason for choosing the chip, and do you have examples of use in audio devices?

Basically, I am very positive about the U-DAC8. And I know that besides the chip itself, the implementation in the entire audio unit including analog amplification is very important. Please, can you inform a little about this.

Looking at the AKM website, it appears this DAC is the only multi-channel device with integrated 2 volt drivers. That seems to make it an optimal choice for this application and the miniDAC8.
Also, I imagine miniDSP can source a decent quantity of the devices relatively inexpensively.

But, devteam can elaborate further.

Dave.

Dave's answer is right on track. A tiny 3.5" square pcb for an 8ch Dac requires some specific choices. The Ak4440 and our experience with its audio quality met all our requirements.
