Anyone using FIR and trying to manage latency delay between channels.

It can be a headache to try to remember all of it in a multiway ,

I started naming the output channels with a name that is the delay,

Another words, let's say ch.4 has a fir latency of 22.62ms , I just re-name ch4 to "22.62ms"

It help ALOT when trying out new fir filters over 8 output channels.

May not seem like a big deal at first , but a few days after you make a filter and try to remember it's latency that trying a new filter on another channel trying to remember it's delay is cumbersome, this way allows no use of brain power or any external way for you to remember how much latency a fir bank has. Just change the name every time you make a new filter that has a different delay

Hope it helps someone ,
Cheers :)

Great tip and thanks for sharing... We should maybe add a little text window to add "comments" for a specific channel under the FIR filter. It would maybe help?

Yes! That would be fantastic! A user could make notes of filter latency, and total off sets by driver distance . As well as configuration notes. Would also be cool if the fir bank just showed the filter latency once loaded.

I've been using long names on my rephase files for just such a purpose (not just latency), and long names for my sharc configs. I'm reminded of something else also. I use the openDRC plugin and the MiniSharc plugin, one on each sharc. One shows the filename of the FIR file that is loaded, one does not (I forgot which). Having that feature on both plugins would also be a big help.

The miniSHARC plugin shows the filename of the FIR. It's a useful feature for when I need to go back and work on it, I know which file to pull up.

Yes, the MiniSharc plugin shows the FIR filename, openDRC doesn't.

On my OpenDRC plugin it does show the filename.
Check and make sure you're using the latest OpenDRC software plugin.

Got a date on that, Dave? My plugin's 8 or 9 months old.

Thank you, John! And Dave. Looks like my long filenames just got a bit shorter.

8 or 9 months? :)
You must have had a really old version because Version 2.02 (from back in 2014) shows the loaded filename in the FIR block. (The newer versions do as well.)

It's appropriate to check your user downloads area every few weeks. And you should do that now because there's a new version posted this month with a miniSHARC FW upgrade attached.

Yes, thx. New openDRC 2x2 Version 2.3 installed, along with new firmware 2.18.

I had Version 2.03 ....it was what was not showing FIR filename ???
I am wondering if Save/Load Configuration comes into play here....(I haven't bothered to save any configs because I've been experimenting so much....)

Oh DevTeam, the User Download Page shows the new version as 2.03...but I'm figuring it means 2.3 given the device is showing 2.3...

Hi Dave, just checked. 2x2 zip file was downloaded 10/24/15 and it's 2.03. No filename in the FIR block. Perhaps an introduced bug. Anyway, I've got the new guys for both 2x2 and 4x8 and I'll be sure to check periodically.

Hmmm....could be. I'm not positive what the issue is here.
Here's my screen capture from version 2.03 that does indeed show the filename I have loaded.

Dave.

Hi guys,
Still not getting FIR filename, even with Version 2.3 and firmware 2.18.
Tried Save and Load Config....no help there

The only time FIR filename appears is when first imported...?????
