HI. I bought a used SHD Studio a couple, or three years ago. And couldn't get it working then. Now I'm trying again, and can't find out WTF I'm supposed to do here. And I'm a super geek. But this is beyond confusing. Is there a guide to follow somewhere I can use? I don't even know what software to download from here. As there's two choices on there (I'm running Windows 11) it seems.  And it's not explained very well at all. All I've been able to get to so far is hooking it up to my network via an ethernet cable. So I can access it on my network. But can't get wifi working at all. I don't need wifi. But it seems as if it's necessary now for some reason. Although I may be wrong there. I'm beyond confused, and am seriously thinking of selling and never looking back. Please save me from that. I just want to hook up my laptop, and try Dirac. Thank you all in advance.

I can't see the SHD downloads - can you post a screenshot of the options?
Also, have you read the user's manual to see how to operate it?

There is nothing you need to use WiFi for. I exclusively use the physical ethernet connection with mine.

The manual is pretty helpful if you spend time reading it. If you have a specific question then I'm sure people here can help.

I have sympathy for you mate. Tecnology is getting so complicated that you just want to forget it.
I had to use the IP static address to get my Mac on a web browser to get access to the Volumio apps.
I then decided in my wisdom to re-arrange my components which involved disconnecting and re-connecting.
Now after bootup, cant get access to Volumio.

Im over it and now not using any streaming or network abilities because they are just too flacky and unreliable.
Minidsp have got your money, its still a good ADC/DAC and I use the 4 outputs to control my mains ans sub but thats it.
I think MiniDSP tried their best to value add but are using other software companies to implement into their software and of course we get problems.
Yes its a bit more work to use the USB to play audio and really I can do without airplay to the SHD.
I guess just chill enjoy what works and forget the rest.

I certainly wont be recommending the wifi or network abilities to anyone.
keep it simple and you cant go wrong.
Sorry Im negative but just wanted to let you know your not alone in your frustration.

If you do manual configurations like static IPs you really have to know what you are doing. Especially you have to make sure that no other device gets the same IP by DHCP. I keep everything automatically and dynamically configured. The only thing that I do set is a checkbox on my router for devices that should always get the same IP by the DHCP service. Invoking of the volumio web GUI can be done by the name instead of the IP address. If this does not work, I think the problem is somewhere in your network configuration or devices.

Minidsp have got your money...

Have you contacted miniDSP support for assistance? It's a little unfair to complain about the company if you haven't.

Hi Ultra,
Yes sorry bad use of English. The DEVteam I thought monitor these pages of the forum?
I see there email address so can do this directly.
My major comment was how the digital age has become so technical that it is not easy for an average PC user to navigate a fault finding process.
You and others here have been really helpful to us but Im just stating a fact.
I am being realistic not to have the high expectations that a product will work flawlessly.
The manual may not be as good at going into detail as its I would like as it can be seen that where there is a problem like the Volumio issues many have had.
EG I have a reset button on my unit but no mention of how it can be used in the manual?
I also see in other forums Im actively involved like ASR that all the major manufacturer do have problems and the fixes are now always available.
This is also a good place to raise these issues.
This is why these forums are so good and the positive users that try and assist others are the first place to start.
Thanks again to all of you who try to assist, hope I havent offended anyone.

Hi Ultra,

The way for anyone to contact miniDSP support is to click on the the Support link at the top of the page and then scroll down to the bottom and click on Submit a Ticket (assuming the info. above this doesn't lead to a resolution). I'm not sure there is an e-mail address that can be used for the same. Re. this forum, note that at the top of every thread there is a message stating this is a community forum and that the way to get official support is to do as I have just described.
