The last update to volumio is after version 3 came out and it's on version 1. So not sure why the defence of the company's honor is so important regarding that.

the real issue is not there inability to update things or add features within a reasonable timeline, it's the complacency of customers who think it's okay to spend over $1,000 on a Half Baked pre-amplifier. Let's be realistic this is simply a preamplifier with active dsp. No different than any of the other products have the price on their website. It happens to have a network Port that may or may not do what it's supposed to do to software and firmware issues. Stop trying to defend a company because you Personally are content with what they've given you.

You'll continue to make false assumptions I'm sure but for record I have purchased both a 2x4 HD and an SHD with my own money. Everything I've posted above is verifiably factually accurate and is not defending any company. I would absolutely like the SHD to get faster, more regular updates to improve on it's streaming capability, and whenever I'd discussing pros and cons of the product here or elsewhere I'll always flag Volumio as a downside vs say BluOs. Like all products there are pros and cons, and for me the former outweigh the latter so I use one, as others do too.

Thank you! Yes, absolutely that was meant to be 'not' - I'll correct it. Autocorrect on my phone must have done that!

@notman  You've made your point numerous times now.  One wonders why you are still here.
There are plenty of other DSP options in the marketplace, yes?

Dave..

I know you think you are the mayor around here, but please notice how I asked a substantive, clarifying question about a bug in the current Device Console display/LED fiasco that had not been discussed here previously. It’s not like I just chimed in to bash miniDSP over old information, though of course I did bash them once I confirmed the situation with Device Console is even worse than I imagined. That’s fair game.

You are childishly sensitive and defensive. I don’t go around finding threads where people say good things about miniDSP and tell them to be quiet, or that they are repeating themselves. But you often feel entitled to tell people who raise perfectly valid complaints that they should just be quiet or leave and sell their device. Sorry, bud, you have zero standing. We all invested the same ~$1200 in this device. If I’ve got gripes and communicate them politely you’re just going to have to deal with it.

miniDSP launched Device Console without telling anyone a word about how the OLED and red LED behavior would change, and even after customer input have left everyone hanging for over three months on a fix. That’s just rude and dumb and if they get some blowback it’s only their fault.

I don’t understand why you carry so much water for them. They’ve all but abandoned this place. You care more about what is said here than they do.

Just caught up on 24 posts! I’ve always had the SHD connected via ethernet. When I first got it I simply used a streaming app (bubble I think) since the SHD is a UPnP/DLNA device. I tried volumino without any issues I just didn’t care for the interface very much. Then I followed the ‘Chrissy method’ and turned the SHD into a Squeezebox player. Squeezebox allows you to add Qobuz and Tidal accounts. So to say it can’t stream… well, in my case, as far as streaming is concerned, I’ve never had a single technical issue with any of the multiple methods I’ve tried.
Warning: Just because I'm a 'Platinum' member, doesn't mean I know what I'm talking about... It just means I've asked too many questions!!

Strange topic. I'm a very happy user of SHD Studio since 2019! Never play cd's, almost never use music on NAS anymore. So streaming only.
I don't like Volumio interface. So instead I'm using Bubbleupnp. Bubbleupnp plays my Tidal favourites perfectly.

Having to use third-party apps to circumvent what is natively supported by the streaming service is unacceptable. Advertising app platform and not directly supporting them is technically false advertising. You can use any third party on any device to do it, that doesn't give them a right to plainly advertise they support that feature.

Qobuz is Now supported in Canada and I'm testing it. Yes the audio quality is better than Tidal because there's less compression even on standard CD quality, however there seems to be some content Messing that's readily available on all of the others. That's unfortunate but so far nothing that's a deal breaker for me. I am enjoying the better quality audio for sure. A lot of people may not have amplifier and speakers good enough to appreciate the difference but they're most definitely is
