Hi all,
I recently purchased a 2x4HD and have fallen in love with the processing I can do with it. I use it to control my 4 subs, including adding BEQ to them.

I stumbled on the SHD. Would this unit sound better than my 2x4HD? Maybe its the size or the price, but I am always weary in the back of my mind the 2x4 is making my audio signal worse.
Please advise!

Hi, I just recently did this upgrade and can recommend it, especially also if you can then switch to balanced. You can check the measurements of both devices on audio science review. With the SHD in your chain, you would need very high-end devices to outperform the SHD.

For your application you should stick with the 2x4 HD. Most notably because the SHD doesn't have the input PEQ that I believe BEQ uses.

True! But I will use the output EQs and link 2 together. I will have to do it twice but it’s the same thing.

I view the higher sound quality and fully balanced in/out (plus volume knob!) as worth more. Given my subs have built in EQ, and I can group EQ them on my processor, 2-3 EQ filters is plenty and most movies use 7 or less anyways.

but thanks for the heads up!

Have you already ordered an SHD?
