Hi. I am new to miniDSP and got a bit confused on how to setup SHD Studio properly into my chain, especially the routing matrix and output settings in its pluggin.
I plan to go in this order, SHD Studio SPDIF 1 -->Schiit Yggdrasil DAC --> Parasound P6 Preamp. P6 subouts to 2 x Martin logan 1000w subwoofers, and P6 XLR outputs to Cambridge 851W amplifier feeding KEF R3 speakers. I will use the high pass and low pass filter on Parasound P6, so that I don't need to worry about setting crossover on SHD. Is this plan going to work? In this case, I don't need to get 2 DACs for sub integration, right?
What should I do with the 4 outputs to Dirac 1 and Dirac 2? Should I turn all of them on at the same time? Which outputs are for SPDIF 1 port and which are for SPDIF 2 port?

Thanks in advance!

What you describe will work, and you'd just use outputs 1 and 2 to connect to your DAC and need to do absolutely nothing with outputs 3 and 4. The outputs on miniDSPs are fully configurable so you'll just define output 1 to be the left audio channel and output 2 to be the right. Note that the functionality that you'll be losing out on with your arrangement is the ability of the SHD Studio to control time delays to optimise subwoofer integration.

What source(s) would you be using?

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I think I understand it better now. So here is my corrent config
https://www.amazon.ca/photos/share/rZ8ZBujeVuLrSFrHwgAdsc6K29TjuiWOGnPdd1XZrol

I use the SPDIF 1&2 output feeding my yggy. I still don't get what Dirac 1 and Dirac 2 represent. I can turn off one of them but all speakers and subwoofer still sound. However, the volume is higher with both Dirac 1 and 2 on.

My source is Roon Nucleus, ifi Zen stream and my TV. I use Roon (Tidal and local files) and HQPlayer too. I am thinking getting rid of ifi Zen Stream since SHD studio is already a streamer. I can even keep ipower Elite for SHD studio. No idea if this gonna help at all, but I tend to be an audiophile :)   I think the only loss would be that SHD Studio only support up to 96kHz and doesn't support NAA, but I should be able to swallow these.

Dirac 1 and 2 are left-channel and right channel.
You probably really should read some manual or howtos on the website.

You can't turn dirac 1 and dirac 2 on and off separated.

You have 2 channel input over spdif or optical with one cable and you got 4 channel ouptuts. On the 2 spdif outs you get channel 1 to 4 like they are displayed in the routing of the config app.

Dirac 1 and 2 applies to the 2 channel inputs and puts the result to the outputs according to your routing settings.

miniDSP's are not devices you connect and expect a good result without doing a good amount of configuration to get everything right.

Do some research on the website and probably some YouTube to get more infos on the basics.

To add to the above, the signal routing in your photo is wrong. You want to just send Dirac 1 to Left and Dirac 2 to Right. Like this:
