A new firmware update has been released for the SHD series.

Rev 1.15 / FW 1.31 / 17 June 2022 (minor)
- Update of digital audio transmitter chipset / new firmware
- Turning off OLED while connected

What exactly has been changed here? Can we get more detailed information from the devteam? :-)
- Update of digital audio transmitter chipset / new firmware

Thank You
Tim

No idea about the digital transmitter part and I could be imagining the next bit, but when I have my laptop connected to the SHD, the display always seems to be on even if I've selected turning it off after a period. Maybe this update turns display off whether or not a laptop/pc is connected.

The part with the display is obvious to me. I didn't want to go into that.

The part with the audio transmitter is the interesting question. It would be nice if such updates would be specified more precisely what has been improved/changed in detail.

Folks, a moment of caution on this release... it installed fine for me but the source button on the handheld remote doesn't seem to be mapped right.  Everything works normally from the Windows app but source on the handheld goes to HT-XLR and gets stuck there...?

I've got one of the early SHDs, FWIW.  Does anyone else see this?

Mine seems to be okay but mine is a more recent production of these within the last 6 months. I got it back in February I think. Hopefully it's not an issue due to revision of the hardware. Can't really tell the difference otherwise

Have those of you having problems with the new update contacted @devteam so they are aware?

I do have the very same problem.after the latest firmware/software update!. (BUG)
Can't select inputs by the remote/keeps showing "HT-XLR" as imput!
Selection of inputs can only be done by the big knob at the very left hand side of the SHD unit.
My SHD is also an older one!
Hopefully this will be checked and repaired by the support team very soon!

support.minidsp.com/support/tickets/new

Dave.

Please contact support directly with the problem as dave recommended in another thread. The devteam seems to read here only in quite irregular phases, which I personally find quite a pity. The support could work even closer with the users like us to solve problems like this faster. :-)

One more issue on old hardware SHD, is that the volume is not anymore controlled through volumio's web interface.

Lesson learned, at least for me: Don't update to a firmware release that doesn't have detailed release notes.
In the other hand I was expecting much better QA testing by the developers. These bugs are so obvious to miss them during basic QA testing by the dev team.

+1

Exactly. 100% agreement. What good does it do us if the release notes say that, for example, the audio transmitter firmware has been updated? What exactly and for what would be useful. Furthermore, quality assurance should also be ensured. The hardware costs not insignificantly little money. That makes e.g. RME with its products clearly better. There are fast and regular updates with reasonable release notes. There is also read what is written in the forum. And even better: They answer openly and sensibly and explain things to you. You are welcome to take a leaf out of their book. 🙂

The windows app still displays & controls inputs properly.  Control from there until they patch this.

I'm first generation HW as well.

Pretty unbelievable they have released nothing but self-described “minor” firmware updates since December 2020. Even basic stuff like a simple volume lock, a.k.a. home theater passthrough, hasn’t been delivered despite years of requests. Now this latest one is obviously buggy. This lack of support doesn’t cut it these days, like others are saying.
