As SHD can not go into standby and does not have trigger-out to turn on/off amplifiers I need to cut power to the unit when not in use.

So it would be very convenient if SHD would have a setting to automatically turn-ON when it is plugged-in. Then we could remotely trigger a power outlet to power-up SHD and amplifiers and then just start the music from smartphone via Volumio, without searching for a miniDSP remote.

Thanks

You want it to turn on when you turn it on????  :)
I think maybe you need to read the manual and get familiar with your unit.

I want SHD to fully turn on when it is plugged in into AC power outlet, without pressing any additional buttons.
This is a common thing in many devices. Most PCs allow to choose in BIOS if computer should turn on or stay off in case of power failure. IKEA wireless lights have option to either turn on or stay off if the AC power is turned on.

If this feature already exists, please explain where?

The "feature"?
Simply leave the on/off switch (on the back of the unit) in the "on" position and it will work as you want it to.

My goodness.

Well clearly you did not actually test how SHD behaves. Good luck waiting for any sound from an SHD without pressing ON button on a remote or the rotary encoder.

I think the confusion here is that this works with the original (Neo2) SHDs but now the newer Neo3 models.

As SHD can not go into standby

Just on this point, yes it can, and more usefully so on the Neo3 model where it much more significantly reduces power usage.

Well this explains it. I am quite sure I have about a year old Neo3 model. Even if it goes into standby, I also have to shut down class-AB amplifiers, so it is much more convenient to switch off powerstrip for all devices in one go. Amplifiers do turn on directly, but the SHD requires pressing the "ON" button which is not very convenient.

Good golly man.  Don't plug the SHD into your switched power strip then.  Just leave it on all the time and put in/out of standby when required.
How difficult is this??????

Then he still has to press the on button after turning on the power strip. I think there are more problematic things in the world, even in the world of hifi. But I completely understand the wish to have it comfortable.

This is actually pretty important to my setup as well.  I use a crestron system to control my SHD over ip (using the volumio api endpoints).  I don't ever put the unit into standby, rather I just mute the outputs when I turn the zone off.

Presumably I would have to power the unit up manually from the front panel after a power outage (which is complicated by the fact the SHD is not in the same room as where I am sitting to listen to it).  It would be great if the unit went back to the input it was on or at least wasn't in standby after hard power on.

+1 on this one!
