Hi,

I have XTZ Divine 100.49 speakers and a Arendal Subwoofer 3. And i`m strugling to find out what to do in settings before I go over to Dirac and start with measurements.

What to do with "PEQ", Xover" and "Comp" on the speaker and subwoofer?

I have been reading, seeing youtube videos, for days and weeks now without coming any further. So hope someone can help me :)

Best regards.
Jarle

I would recommend starting simple and not overthinking things. There are 4 presets so when your first attempt isn't perfect just use the next preset until you have 4 you can compare.

You shouldn't need PEQ (Dirac will do better than that automatically) or Comp. I didn't even use Xover, I just matched the subwoofer to the main speakers by changing its filter settings and left everything else to Dirac. So maybe try that first to get a simple base setting to compare to. In the second preset use a Xover and see how that compares. You will need to do some reading to choose the optimal crossover frequency though. In the third preset try a different crossover frequency etc.

You don't need to do anything with PEQ or Comp. It is crossovers and time delays you want to be looking at.

The following is one way to get you started. It's not what I'd do myself but I've not got time for a more useful reply right now. There are other recent threads on the same question elsewhere on this forum if you have a look.

entripy : Thank you for reply. I will try not to comlicate it. I did a measurement now, with smaler adjustment on crossover. And the result was not satisfied at all. No bass and lower sound. But overall it was better.  Did you use REW before doing anything on SHD?

Ultrasonic : Thank you for reply. I will try just to do something in the crossover menu. But for now I`m insecure if I have done correct on the sub panel and speakers. And I`m not sure what to do inn SHD crossover menu at all.

It is important to time-align the sub with the main speakers before using Dirac. I used REW based on a method similar to www.minidsp.com/applications/auto-eq-wit...eaker-time-alignment but the latest REW apparently has a better automated method. Since I never used Xover I can't help with that, except to mention that the sub filter should be as high as possible when using Xover.

"There is ONLY ONE truly correct way to "add a sub" to a system in an controlled listening room situation: you must correctly cross over the 2 sealed cabinets; and their timing must be correct. ANY other method will lessen the focus and clarity and imaging you have tried so hard to preserve."

You have to use a crossover, even with big speakers.

My main speakers actually go much lower in frequency than my sub. My sub isn't there to extend the bass, its to fill in a dip due to main speaker placement causing Sound Boundary Interference Response on the left channel, something Dirac Live can't correct but a corner placed sub can. Impossible to crossover but requires careful sub selection to integrate well.

I thought, may be wrong, that Jarlet had a much more standard problem such as the integration of a subwoofer in a stereophonic system
However, I do not understand his matrix settings...

entripy : Thank you. I will read that and try to that.

sebpoterie : To be honest I don`t know what I`m doing. It`s way over my knowledge.
I think I need to ask a local store or something, if I can not get it within 1 week or 2.
