Can I limit the SHD volume control to a particular fixed value? HOW? I'd like to use the XLR connection for it is better than RCA.

You 'fix' the volume setting on the SHD by just not changing it

. In the absence of other information I'd leave it at -10 dB.

As for using the volume control on your Yamaha this should just 'work' provided you're using a normal analogue input?
