Hi,

does shd series now support volumio 3.0? Any plan to support that in future? Is the volumio version updatable? Thanks

@ albert18361

It doesn't support Volumio 3.0 and I'm afraid that we don't share timelines for future updates. We're always pushing them to the best we can. We just came out of a MAJOR update when we release Roon and latest kernel. Volumio 3 is also going through some early dev so let's go step by step to have something stable first. ;-)

Tidal Connect is not currently supported. If you're serious about sound quality I would personally encourage you to use Qobuz instead of Tidal though, due to the limitations caused by the use of MQA.

@DevTeam may share more details but for info. the SHD series uses its own specific versions of Volumio. The current one is Version 1.111 but I assume its an implementation of Volumio 2 (given the SHD was released in 2018 and Volumio 2 was released in 2015).

Qobuz isn’t available in my country… I personally am not a hi res nerd… Support for tidal connect is more of a convenience consideration..

Hello,

I can not see any change of Volumio via update for a long time, since 26.07.2022.
Please tell me is the System-Version 1.125  ( shown in Volumio / Systemoptions ) the actual version right now and is there any change at the horizon aka this year?

Thank you

Thank you Dave for the quick response!
As the dev team sayed before there will be not much info about releases. I understand this. This will cause no disappointment and no unnecessary discussions.
I think additionally, it would be helpful to know as a user / buyer if there will be any development in the next, let’s say twelf month. Because, for example, when I make decisions of developing my music system further. A.k.a. wait for Volumio minidsp update or go with something else. Volumio is developing soo slowly on minidsp.

I know, it is just a minor issue….

I wish you a happy day Dave,

Sebo

I'm not a fan of Volumio (even it's latest version 3.429) for other platforms either.  So, issues with the Volumio implementation in the SHD are pretty much irrelevant for me.
I use a couple (one for the SHD) of Moode instances running on RPi's for streaming in my domicile.  More straightforward and I like the interface much better.

Hello Dreite,

I use the same solution via moode RPI.
But I would like to know, will this be solved this year?
Aka no workaround needed?

Regards

What specific issue are you looking to be 'solved'?

Inability to skip forward in tracks in Tidal that are downloaded in the connected device for example. Every other connect certified device never has issues aborting playback without letting 1 minute of the song play first. Constant disconnects from Tidal. It's so bad I can't even be bothered to use it. Mo

Does it make any difference if you use Tidal Connect or Volumio itself? This is the first I've heard of such issues here by the way, so if you think you're experiencing known issues that are being worked on I fear you may be disappointed. Unless you've been in direct contact with support about this?

I am referring to using tidal connect. Nobody uses volumio to navigate tidal, that is possibly the worst interface created in the history of audio interfaces lol. But anyone who understands why volumio has so many updates is to add stability to things like this. I hope they are going to update volumio soon

Tidal connect has only been added to the SHD series relatively recently so loads of people were using Volumio to stream Tidal, and I did myself at one point. I absolutely appreciate that Tidal connect would be preferable but only if it actually works. If Volumio performs better I was suggesting a way to actually make use of the Tidal subscription you're paying for rather than just giving up on it.

Personally I use qobuz and so there is no 'connect' option available yet sadly, although again this would only actually be helpful if it worked well.
