Hi all,

Previously the Squeezelite Player plugin did not work for Volumio running on the MiniDSP SHD (Studio). With some manual tweaking and copying over an old release of Squeezelite, I managed to get it up and running. (Newer version always complained about an incorrect version of libc6.)

It seems the latest version (22-12-2021) of the plugin correctly installs a working version. However...when starting Squeezelite (either manually or as a Volumio managed service), it displays the following error message:

[16:31:43.945403] test_open:281 playback open error: No such file or directory
[16:31:43.945613] output_init_common:401 unable to open output device: default

When running Squeezelite with the -l parameter I do see the available sound cards:

Output devices:
null                           - Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
  pulse                          - PulseAudio Sound Server
  default:CARD=I2Smaster         - I2S-master,  - Default Audio Device
  sysdefault:CARD=I2Smaster      - I2S-master,  - Default Audio Device
  dmix:CARD=I2Smaster,DEV=0      - I2S-master,  - Direct sample mixing device
  dsnoop:CARD=I2Smaster,DEV=0    - I2S-master,  - Direct sample snooping device
hw:CARD=I2Smaster,DEV=0        - I2S-master,  - Direct hardware device without any conversions
plughw:CARD=I2Smaster,DEV=0    - I2S-master,  - Hardware device with all software conversions

But all of these (when using the -o param) give the same error. Any clues/ideas? Thanks!

Thanks  Juoigâ , but I have it running, at least the old version mentioned in that post. Only when I try to upgrade to the latest version I get the test_open:281 error. Seems like a permission error on MiniDSP/Volumio.

Btw in case not clear from my original post: Volumio released a new version of the Squeezelite plugin (last week of 2021). This new version has more/better configuration options and does install the correct version of Squeezelite (compiled for the relatively old Debian OS on the MiniDSP SHD). You would expect the latest version of the plugin to actually work, but it was clearly not tested on our specific instance of Volumio.

I'm a bit confused. If we upgrade volumio on our SHDs does the Squeezelite plugin now work as previously it never did and we needed to use the 'Chrissy' method. I did that but using the volume on the squeezebox app (although changing the SHD volume) didn't work consistently.

If the new volumio has a work g version of squeezlite, does changing the volume via the app change it on the SHD and does it work correctly?

Thanks
