Suppose I use my SHD Studio with headphones: is there an easy way to import a crossfeed filter (such as Linkwitz) into the SHD to make the imaging more natural for headphones?

(By the way my headphones need to be connected to the high level speaker terminals of my amp, although I do not think that this is relevant for my question.)

I'm not aware of any way the SHD DSP can achieve crossfeed. I think you would need to use a separate headphone amplifier which has the feature.

Thanks. However, what you suggest is not possible given my remark in parentheses above.
I could of course use JRiver's crossfeed, however I prefer to avoid streaming audio via the network.

I suppose it's possible to do a basic crossfeed using the signal routing, where as little as -72dB of one channel could be added to the other. I don't think it's possible to add a delay as well if you wanted though.

Yes, level  crossfeed is possible using the matrix mixer in the plugin, but no way of filtering just the crossfed signal which is required for headphone crossfeed method.

Indeed I was thinking along these lines:
  • input 1 --> output 1
  • input 1 minus 7 dB slightly delayed --> output 4
  • input 2 --> output 3
  • input 2 minus 7 dB slightly delayed --> output 2
and then summing outputs 1 + 2 and 3 + 4.
But maybe it is my inexperience with MiniDSP.

No, what's possible would be:

Output 1 = Input 1 + Input 2 -7dB (but not delayed)
Output 2 = Input 2 + Input 1 -7dB (but not delayed)

I'm not saying this would work well; just what is possible.

Edit: unless you're talking about summing the outputs you described outside of the SHD?

Do you have 4 DAC channels available?

Not without some effort. And I do not want to complicate my setup as I listen to headphones only 30% of the time. Next time I will try Jriver crossfeed and see how I like it.
