Has anyone been able to get simultaneous Bluetooth and wifi working on the EDUP USB adapter? I tired today and could not get my SHD to acknowledge it as a WiFi device.

Just to check I then set up the included USB WiFi adapter that ships with the SHD and that worked perfectly via the initial setup hotspot ssid.

I'd love to have this working to allow me to move my SHD to another room sometimes where it would be difficult to cable.

thanks rthorntn - that work around toggling BT of/on within the voumio interface worked well for me too.

I was previously messing about pulling the batteries out and in on the MS Dia alongside unplugging and plugging the USB BT dingle. .

The excellent MINIdsp DevTeam advised me of a new firmware on the volumio module today - v1.119.

I have tested this and it works very well with the BT dongle. Mine now starts up fine either on initial power up or coming out of standby. The MS Dial then auto connects once it is pressed or turned the first time.

Apparently there are different hardware/firmware revisions on the EDUP USP adapter according to region (mine was purchased in UK). and this was causing the issue on the previous firmware.

Thank You DevTeam for your superb support.

I'm getting issues after this upgrade, not with the Dial, Volumio seems to be crashing, the SHD becomes unresponsive in Roon, web UI not reachable, playback stops, a couple of times the volume went to 0db which is not fun, power cycling is the only way to bring it back, its crashed twice, roughly once a week...anyone else seeing this?

rthorntn - Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Since the firmware upgrade to System Version 1.119 mine has been behaving very well.

Surface Dial now connects very reliably.

I have found you need to give it time.

My SHD is powered all the way down overnight and from cold boot, you have to wait for the SHD to start up, then volumio to boot (I have the startup sound option enabled under General settings, then I know its ready).

After that, it you turn or click the Surface Dial, it can take a few more seconds to complete the setup before it is ready to go.

I have not had any nasties like the volume maxing out with the dial connected. and the unit has not crashed.

Hope the excellent miniDPS Dev Team can help you with that.

Thanks, it's hot here, when I was power cycling I noticed that the case area near the power cable was pretty warm, could mean something.

Are you somewhere just coming out of winter by any chance?

Yes - based in UK. Frosty this morning but expecting as high as +16C mid afternoon which will be nice.

The issue for me with the USB BT adapter was that there was a very slight difference for the units shipped in Europe vs.Asia.(mine was from Amazon UK)

The miniDSP Dev team were super suportive and ordered a USB dongle from Europe so that they could test and then issued the 1.119 code upgrade which fixed my issues.

Where abuts are you and where did you source your USB BT adapter?

I mean a different variant of dongle could fail to load based on a usb check (perhaps minidsp has locked that all down), not sure.

www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids shows the vendor and device ids, if we had identical hardware with slightly different ids then that could be an issue.

My actual crashing issue may have been in an earlier sw release as I haven't had my SHD for very long at all before I upgraded to the version with the Dial fix.

What's the best way to gather support data if my crash happens again, is there a way?

If you go to your SHD http://<your SHD IP>/dev you can get to the page to run and send logs.

The send logs will upload the logs and give you a URL that you can share with miniDSP Dev/Support team.
