As well as trying out Room EQ I was wondering whether I could get a SHD and replace the DAC or whether I’d be better getting a SHD Studio and keeping the DAC.

So I guess it’s a question of how good are the DACs in the SHD.  I read somewhere the DACS in the SHD Power were very good.

thanks

Hi,
I have a SHD studio with Gustard x16 Dac for the speakers and smsl su8 Dac for the subs. I use AES cable for the gustard and coaxial spdif for the smsl.
The sound is very good, no complains.
The SHD’s Dac (non studio)  is very good, but the studio gives you flexibility to change Dacs in the future, that’s my opinion.

Yes, but my intent is to reduce the number of boxes I have, and of of course the SHD allows me to try and compare other DACs too.

My question was about the quality of the DAC in the SHD vs others.  The SHD Studio costs $1000 and the SHD $1600.  I guess if you can buy a better DAC for $600 then separates are the way to go.  In my case I’ve a MYtek Brookly DAC+ so it will be an interesting test.  If I can’t tell the difference then I’ll see the MYtek
