To be honest a PC/laptop and even a Macbook is not a good solution for audio. It will produce sound but no music!
The USB input of the SHD Studio is OK. I use it right now for the internal NEO3 streamer (Input USB). IMHO sounds even better than the direct I2S via GPIO (Input LAN).

Why don't you use the SHD Studio streamer as player and your MacBook as server? In Volumio Airplay and UPnP/DLNA are enabled by default. Better solution is installing LMS (free) or Roon Core ($$) on your MacBook and enable squeezelite on the SHD Studio following my procedure ...

Is this issue happening again?  I have literally had my SHD less than a month and it hasn't worked every time i used it.  When I got it, Tidal wouldn't connect, and the issue was due to the certificate expiration. After a firmware update, it worked. I tried listening again today, and none of my songs will play.  I went to the settings and it shows Tidal unconnected.  I tried connecting, and it does the same thing it did before, Tidal won't connect.  I updated the firmware again, and it's still not working.  Is there another issue going on?

I've just checked and Qobuz is working normally as I type this. I don't have Tidal to test.

I am beyond frustrated with this thing, I'm about 2 minutes from shipping it back.  It has worked once out of the 4 times I've tried using it.

First time I tried connecting Tidal it would log in, but it wouldn't save the connecting.  That was due to the certificate expiration that was fixed with a software update first of this month.  After the software update it worked.  Next time I tried using it, Tidal and Quobuz were both not connected.  I try reconnecting, and it's doing the same thing it did when the certificate expired.  I just tried factory resetting it, and it still won't connect.  The web browser shows the login is successful to Tidal/Quobuz, but it won't retain the connection.  What do I do?

Have you contacted miniDSP support yet? Definitely don't consider posting it back before you have. Your experience is not typical so I'm sure this can be resolved.

What firmware is it on now you've done the factor reset? I've never done this but it might now need updating again?

So the Web GUI shows v1.111 which I guess is the Volumio plugin version.  The firmware I installed is Rev 1.15 / FW 1.29 / 16 March 2021 (minor). I'm not sure how to confirm this version though, I don't see a firmware version in the Web GUI.

Thanks for helping.

You can see the firmware version in the miniDSP plugin when it's connected to your SHD Studio.

I would relax and contact support.  Venting here maybe satisfying in the short term but not so in the long run.

It was an attempt at asking for help, not so much venting.  OK maybe a little bit.  Either way, I submitted a ticket, so I'm sure it'll be resolved.  Thanks.

If you are on Android you can connect to Tidal an other way. You can use Bubbleupnp as control point (instead of the Volumio app). It's got a stable Tidal login and really is great to use with SHD.
