Hello,

I just received my SHD and am noticing a pretty loud hissing sound coming from both channels. I am using the USB input and balanced outputs. The hissing sound gets louder with volume but is also loud enough to hear at low listening volumes. It stops completely when I mute the volume. As a test, I disconnected all connections including the computer and the hissing sound remains.

I was just able to send a ticket - looking forward to hearing back!

I have gone through extensive troubleshooting and a few back and forth emails with the minidsp team who is very responsive.

I am using a Kinki Studio EX-M7 by the way which is a high powered direct DC coupled amp. Interestingly, I found that the RCA output is mostly free of noise. I can enjoyably listen to it without issues, however, the XLR output stage is impossible to listen to with my amp. I do not think it's a ground loop, it sounds like it's coming from the unit itself. I just sent a long email back to minidsp decribing all of the symptoms and am now waiting. In the meantime, it sounds great with RCA but I would love to use the balanced outs as I plan on multiplying my subs in the future using the RCA outs.

Which amp will you be using the SHD with? This might be less of an issue with you as I think it's the high sensitivity of my amp that is picking up on the noise. Will keep updating.

I have Class A balanced mono blocks, directly coupled.

You started this thread about 10 days ago. Really slow progress has been made. Not a fan of Minidsp support.

Are you using it just as a preamp without Dirac? Somebody was complaining about the sound quality while using it in this mode.

The example you're referring to is not normal though. Something isn't right there, and it may simply be a plugin setup issue.
