I just got my SHD studio and was trying to set it up. This will likely be a simple question, i could not find the answer in the manual.
I noticed when opening up the plugin and linking to dirac that there is an internal mic within the SHD.
As i begin my setup, do i use this internal mic or the Umik?
If the Umik, is it plugged into the computer or SHD?
Thanks, in advance

If it's like the SHD or DDRC-24 then...

Shd to pc
PC to UMIKStart dirac from the SHD plugin
Dirac starts, select SHD, select umik

Excellent, thank you.
In case you know the answer, i posted this question in another thread.

I have an authorized dirac 3.0 pgm and license already installed on my computer used in conjunction with my Emotiva processor.
I installed the minidsp plugin and it seems to work (not sure yet as i just got the SHD Studio and am trying it out) fine with that version.
Is the minidsp version different than the emotiva and as such I need to install that one too?
If so, how do i distinguish between the two when running the plugin, insuring i am pointing the plugin to the right version
They are both supposed to be full versions but i dont know if minidsp adds a "hook" to their version to only work in conjuction when opening their plugin and using an SHD device

If you do have to load both, I don't think distinguishing between the two will be an issue. You start it off from the minidsp plugin so the version you need will start up and be front and centre!

Not sure if your pre-installed version is OK. You could just try Opening the minidsp plugin and trying to launch/run dirac. If's your original version starts it will either work with the SHD or not. Just do one measurement and move on to the next step. No point doing 17measurements only to find you can't load the results back to the SHD!

The preinstalled version opens fine within the shd plugin. Its is, front and center. That version works perfectly when working with my emotiva processor.
I did not want to install the minidsp version before i asked the question here in case of a problem having to installs,
I finish up setting it up and then run a test. if it works (which it likely will) i will not install the minidsp version which was my plan
Was just posting here in case this has been something someone else has already been through and knew the answer.
Thanks again.

There is no minidsp version of Dirac, its just the one you download from Dirac's website.

I noticed when opening up the plugin and linking to dirac that there is an internal mic within the SHD.

I'd be very surprised if there is. I suspect what you were seeing was the microphone on the laptop (or whatever) that you had connected to your SHD.

I did once have a brief panic that I'd blow a tweeter when I used the microphone on my laptop by mistake. Thankfully everything looked normal again when I selected the UMIK-1 instead!

Just a follow up.
I am using a desktop pc with no mic. After plugging in the umik and opening up dirac, i now see two. One being labeled as umik and the other as minidsp.
Strange.
Dont know what it is at this point but its not the umik or my pc and the umik works so on to integration.
Thanks

In REW you can select an SHD as a 'microphone' but what you get back is the siganl the SHD sends to it's USB output. This can be interesting/helpful but there isn't any actual microphone involved. I don't recall seeing the same option in Dirac Live though, which is where I thought you were looking @muslhead?

I should have posted a screenshot which i will do and hopefully clear up any lack of clarity with my writing.
So far, i have not even opened up REW as i am trying to do the initial set up of the device and connection with dirac

Here you go
You can see the two mics. One being the umik and the other "line" ... whatever that is.
