In short, is it able to only output signal to digital ch1&2 while mute the analog ch1&2?

for more details,
I would like to use SHD in below scenario:

Scenario 1- as 2.2 stereo DSP:
Feed from my stream via USB -> SHD -> digital ch1&2 to my DAC (Topping D90) -> amp - > speaker
-> analog ch3&4 to my 2 subwoofers in front stage

Scenario 2- as AV LFE subwoofer integration like 2x4HD:
Feed from my AV LFE output -> SHD ch1 - > all analog ch1-4 to my 4 subwoofers (2 in front stange , 2 behind sofa)

Current I am using 2x4HD for scenario 2.
To achieve this, I want to connect all 4 subwoofers to all analog output from SHD
but when I play stereo 2.2, I only want digital output ch1&2 to my DAC , and I do not want to activate the woofer at my back . so I want to be able to mute the analog ch1&2.

Thanks!

The answer to the thread title is no I'm afraid. One solution would be to turn off the two subs that aren't in use during scenario 1. Another would be to add in a line-level switch on the relevant outputs.

In your situation I'd personally be inclined to just sell your Topping D90 and use the SHD's own DAC instead, although I appreciate that you probably won't want to do this.

What sub crossover frequency do you use for Scenario 1? This isn't what you asked about but unless it's really high due to small main speaker I'd very much encourage you to try using a mono-bass signal rather than seperate left and right channel signals to the two subs in use. The full advantages of multiple subs come from freedom of placement, and since bass signals are't always panned dead-center you can't properly optimise the response when separate signals are sent to each sub. It also doesn't make optimal advantage of the available subwoofer headroom. This is certaily something worth experimenting with if you have any interest/time.

I'll just add that for movies I currently use a 2x4 HD in addition to my SHD: the 2x4 HD processes the LFE channel and sends it to my sub whilst the stereo downmix of all of the other channels is sent via my SHD to my main speakers. Not optimal for movies I know but better than what I could achive with my SHD alone as then I'd have to discard the LFE information entirely.

I use a line-level switch to change whether my sub gets it's input signal from my SHD or 2x4 HD.

Appreciate for your response.

I would have another option actually can keep my 2x4HD connecting to 4 subwoofers. And let SHD send the mono sub signal to it.

So for scenario 1 I will have ch1/2 to DAC and ch3 to 2x4 HD subwoofers.

For scenario 2 I just forward the LFE to 2x4HD as usual.

I actually have floor standing speakers but it can only go to 40hz. So I want a sub to handle the deep bass.

Thanks

Yes, that would work, provided the connection types for scenarios 1 and 2 to your 2x4 HD are different.

I have floorstanding speakers that go down to about 35 Hz but I now high-pass filter these at 110 Hz to let my sub take over. With 4 subs you'd have a stronger potential advantage of doing something similar... I'd be surprised if optimally configuring your 4 subs didn't outperform your main speakers. Something to consider experimenting with anyway  .
