I've been using my SHD with Roon. It's not a "roon ready" situation, but I was able to control volume from my laptop. This morning, Roon gave me the message. "There are updates for some of your devices." I clicked to update, which was stupid, I know. Anyway, the result is that I can no longer control volume from my laptop, and that's really annoying. Any ideas?

You're most likely using an outdated firmware so please update the firmware of the SHD and you'll be all good.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I updated the firmware, but I still don't have volume control.

In Roon>Settings>Audio>Roon it lists two players, SHD_i2s and SHD_spidif I believe there was another one before the update. Maybe using the Roon Bridge plugin in Volumio? Under the Roon Ready heading, there's miniDSP SHD, but it doesn't allow me to enable it.

Did you update both, firmware and volumio?

Volumio said that it was up to date.

I figured it out. The update removed the "device" I was using. I had to choose one of the other ones. In the options in Roon, I had to go in an enable digital volume control for that output device. I'm not sure why the devices changed with the update, but I'm happy that I can control the volume from my laptop.
