Hi Team,

I bought a DDRC-24 direct from minidsp and have now gone ahead and bought a second hand SHD.

I'm guessing that my Dirac software will work with ehe SHD when it comes and will just recognise it automatically.

I have a plugin for my DDR.. Now will that work for the SHD too or do I need io get the seller to transfer his version to me?

Thanks in advance.

I think you'll need to get the seller to get minidsp to transfer the 'license' for the software/firmware for the SHD.
Dirac is a free download so no problem with that.

The software/firmware is available for the SHD from User Downloads, so maybe if you are already registered as a minidsp customer you may be able to download it already though.

Otherwise just contact the minidsp support. AFAIK they will unlock the SHD donwloads for you.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the advice. I've contacted the seller and asked them to contact minidsp and ask them to transfer the license to my account. I'll also raise a ticket and ask for the downloads to be made available to me. If i do need to buy I presume it's $10 for the plugin like my DDRC-24 software was.

But does the SHD need to be linked to my account to work or will it be ok straight from the seller?

All the software/firmware is free, no cost.
The SHD hardware will just work, it isn't linked to your account, but without the SHD plugin software you may be stuck with the seller's setting for EQ, output delays, output levels etc. unless they have reset all settings to default.
To set it up properly you need the SHD plugin set up before using Dirac.

If I buy a new version of the SHD plugin can i change the previous users settings or are the plugins somehow paired with the hardware?

SHD plugin is free software from User Downloads and will be able to change all setting from previous owner. It isn't paired with hardware.

You don't even need the seller to do the transfer as long as you physically have the unit in your possession. MiniDSP even has instructions on what you need to do here:

I never spotted that FAQ but the seller did still contact minidsp ahead of the unit arriving with me and all downloads were available the next day.

Everything was simpler than anticipated!

Yeah, the MiniDSP support team is pretty responsive. The main wait is just due to timezone differences. Nice and easy!
