Hello,
I installed the 1.94 volumio update, and the firm is 1.29
I can see the usb hdd (connected to my internet box)
But when i "save" I have an error message due to cifs mounting problem.
I then re installed completely the sd card of the SHD with the old version and it was Ok again.
Is it a bug or a problem of configuration?
Someone could help me please to use this 1.94 version?
Best regards
Didier

I am streaming via minimserver from my NAS. So I do not need to mount its folder on the SHD. Where is the advantage of using the folder mount way (if it works)?

Hi,
I couldn't get volumio to recognise my synology nas either. Fortunately I use the Squeezebox app and already have the bridge upnp plugin on the LMS. Once I added the squeezelite plugin to volumio I was up and running without needing to mount the drive.

Is it that if you can mount the drive you can use the Volumio app?

Hello
I found a solution that work for me:

1. Download the image file (.img) from the link below and unzip (the old volumio version)
updates.volumio.org/nanopineo2/minidspsh...5-nanopineo2.img.zip
2. Power off SHD, unplug the power cord, open top cover (need unscrew with a screw driver) and take out the micro-SD card from the nano-pi (the small pcb with Ethernet port on it)
3. Insert micro-SD card to PC with a card adapter
4. Use a SD card format tool downloaded from scandisk (link provided below) to erase and format the SD card
kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1...on-sdhc%2Fsdxc-cards
5. Use Etcher (can use portable version) to flash the volumio (.img) file into SD card: www.balena.io/etcher/ (if error at the end no problem ;) )
6. Insert the micro-SD card back into the nano-pi, close the top cover and power up the unit.
7. Remove completely from the PC app : USB drivers and SHD (I did a reboot after)
8.Install from the old package: SHD_v1_6_fw_v1_10 the old win drivers and the plugin.
9: Flash the SHD with the old firmware: SHD_v1.10.bin
10:Start the SHD and mount the drive in volumio. (I also scanned the library) to be sure everything is ok.
10:Remove again completely from the PC: USB drivers and SHD (I did a reboot after)
11:Install from the new package: SHD_v1_15_fw_v1_29 the win drivers and the plugin.
12:Flash the SHD with the new firmware: SHD_v1.29.bin
13: Update Volumio to 1.94

I hope it help you if you have this problem.

Wow! You found a solution and then some!

The solution is quiet involved and no doubt invalidates the warranty. Given I can stream via squeezebox app I'm wondering, like @gbr what the benefits of mounting the drive are.

I have also ended up using minimserver as well. It's fine ;)

I liked mounting the NAS in Volumio because then it populates the Volumio User interface, which I like.

I suspect an SMB Protocol version issue, due to an upgraded operating system we use for the miniDSP Volumio version.
Could someone suffering from the (Synology) NAS connection issues please post a log to verify this?
Instructions for creating a log can be found in our documentation:
The log should give us the exact error code when trying to connect, please post the URL you got here.

If you happen to have a Synology NAS: go to the Control Panel, select File Services/SMB/Advanced and also please report the settings for Maximum and Minimum SMB Protocol.
There *should* also be similar settings for other NAS Devices.

The other way to verify this is a little addition to the parameters when adding (or editing) a Network Drive in Volumio.
Volumio has a "Show Advanced Settings" button, press it and add "vers=1.0" (without the quotes) in the Options field.

Thanks

I have not had the shd hooked up recently to try this. If I have a moment I'll hook it back up and see what i see. ;)

I was able to find time and hook it up today. I saw that you asked for the min and max SMB Protocol. The max was set at "2" so I bumped it up to "3" and it now is able to connect and load the music directory.

Excellent, thanks.
This means the issue can be resolved in two ways:
- add "vers=1.0" (without the quotes) to the advanced settings option field when adding a share
or
- modify the Synology NAS cifs/smb settings and allow max SMB protocol to be 3.
