Just got my SHD studio few days ago, and satisfied with its ability of dealing standing wave at low frequency. However, after intergrading it into my system, some side effects are bothering me...(most of the time I stream music from Tidal)

Original setup:
Naim SUPERUNITI + audio physics step25 plus)
Now:
SHD studio—>Shark SL0528GB(RCA)—> Naim SUPERUNITI —>audio physics step25 plus

(1) sound quality change a little bit. Not so smoothing compared to directly stream Tidal by. Naim SUPERUNITI . especially at high frequency range . I am thinking it’s the coaxial problem?

(2) control of Volumio is not so friendly... I couldn’t get used to it... really need some suggestions to get rid of its control

Any suggestions are appreciated

What frequency range have you applied a Dirac correction over?

Rather than you experiencing some sort of 'coaxial problem' I think it's just the result of the Dirac filter you have. In the first instance I'd try running Dirac over the full frequency range instead, and if you still find you don't like the sound to then experiment with changing the target curve from there.

Thanks for your feedback. To clarify, the first problem I mentioned is without any filter(Dirac off) . However, pure digital in/out change the sound...

Sorry, I missed that. It still makes sense to see if you can use Dirac to solve the issue you're hearing.

I've enabled upnp renderer and dlna browsers in Volumio. I now use Bubbleupnp on Android as user interface. Much nicer than the Volumio app. For iPhone something similar is available.

I don't suppose anyone knows a similar option to Bubble upnp that works on Windows 10?

Over time I did several searches for windows based dlna streamer software. Would be nice to stream computer audio from laptop to the SHD Studio wirelessly. I didn't find a reliable solution.

50-2k Hz

If your goal is to correct low-frequency standing waves, I would restrict the range up to a few hundred hertz. Most room behaves like reflectors from above 200-500Hz. In-room equalization often does more harm than it has benefits to correct room reflections, as it may be your case here.

personally I still think the Squeezebox interface is hard to beat. You can run it completely on the SHD, just activate the server plugin in Volumio (and the a few bits and bobs to tweak) or run the LMS server on a NAS or PC and activate the (modified, see thread on this forum) squeezelite plugin in volumio to make the SHD act as squeezebox player. then use the brilliant material skin to control it from every device that can connect to yr network

Would you mind explaining quite what to do to see the Squeezebox interface you have in mind? When I've tried activating the Squeezelite player and LMS before I've not been able to get anywhere, despite using using PiCorePlayer and LMS in conjunction with the Squeezer Android app in my kitchen.

first thing to note is that the squeezelite plugin that comes with the volumio on the SHD is broken, does not function
most of the info is also in this thread:
www.minidsp.com/forum/shd-series/17077-s...ogitech-media-server

I have 2 ways how it worked for me:

a) disc with music attached to the SHD
  • activate the LMS plugin from Volumio
  • start the LMS and setup with local disc as music source
  • activate in LMS the 3rd party plugin "local player"
now you should be able to see the SHD as player from the LMS webinterface
could be slow for larger collections

b) NAS with an LMS setup (could be as lean as an RPi with large disc) now you have the SHD as player in LMS

all credits and a bag of kudos to Chrissy for the work on the correct version of the sueezelite plugin

Thanks for explaining this. I actually have no local files I'm interested in play, just Tidal, Qobuz and Radio Paradise currently but if using LMS allowed me to add BBC Sounds I'd use that too. Bubble upnp gives slightly better Tidal and Qobuz functionality, in particular giving an album view sorted by year.

Tidal and Qobuz have their own plugin in LMS, have no experience with but Qobuz works fine
RP you can either use the direct stream URL or use a plugin
BBC works fine
also nice is to be able to play podcasts
and of course Bandcamp
