No issues with Qobuz

Was that comment in response to my post? I was referring to Volumio builds other than those specifically for the SHD, so not what you are using.

There are no generic Volumio builds for the Neo2 board in the SHD

I was talking about someone trying to use something not produced specifically for the SHD. I was responding to @Imerino's question about using 'any install/version of Volumio'. I believe we both agree that this isn't a good idea :) .

I'll pass and wait for an official update or Roon Ready release.

Perhaps the Roon Ready delay is to correct issues found during the certification. That is just fine.

Is it just a matter of loading it on a microSD and inserting it into the pi inside the SHD? If it doesn't work out, just put back the original MicroSD?

Thanks

In answer to that generic question
a) There is a new hardware version required for a new streamer that runs on Volumio build 1.073
b) The similar build but for the neo2 (1.076) is coming up hopefully this week at most.. It's already fully tested, just ongoing long term testing.

That new build has a new kernel and lots of improvement as well on stability.

Please don't monkey with SD card on untested firmware for your hardware unless it's on the update webpage of your streamer. It's really not recommended.. :-)

We have an Over the Air feature. If your hardware doesn't have yet an update, that simply means that our engineers haven't finalized the testing. It's best that you please don't load an unknown build on your platform and potential damage your speakers with untested firmware. Thanks!

@devteam Thanks for the official information.

Will there be an upgrade offer for older SHDs to the new streamer hardware? (If it is better in any way.)

The Roon bridge issue is odd as it is rev 1.0 that has never needed an update. I wonder if Volumio is starving the bridge. Perhaps, it need to run at a higher priority.

- Rich

I was referring to your issue playing DSD files, as I don't recall anyone raising the same concern with the current firmware/Volumio version.

I have different hardware, the "new" hardware powers off the USB and likely has other changes. Different hardware, different Volumio version, and possibly different NonoPi.

Apparently, different does not behave the same ;)

Did you also update to the latest january firmware? Or does it work with the latest december2020 firmware, too?

I updated my SHD Volumio to 1.076 from within Settings - System. Works great.

That's interesting. My "new" SHD is at 1.073 and reports that it is the latest software.

That’s correct. For now they are identical software, but with different version numbers for Neo2 and Neo3. See their note here:

www.minidsp.com/forum/announcements/1851...o-build-v1-076-1-073

They say this two-version-numbers thing is temporary.

I had June until 2 weeks ago when I updated to the December one. Today I got the 1.076...
