Hi,

can anybody compare the remote V1 to the V2 regarding build quality? And are the additional buttons useful and working when streaming to the SHD by using the bubble upnp server?

Thanks
Gert

With Bubbleupnp and new remote next and previous buttons work.

New remote has standby button.

Build quality of both is good. New remote with cr2032 battery weights less.

I do like the feel of the new remote. I've got both. I use the new one. The old one I keep as a spare.

Thank you for the response.

The new remote is even lighter? This is one thing that I did not like with v1, because it feels so cheap. But ok, it is not really a problem.

What I do not like with v1 is the click noise of the buttons. It, too, feels a bit cheap. Is there a difference with the new one? (It would not be a show stopper, but it would help to decide ordering a v2)

The new remote using CR2032 batteries rather than AAA puts me off actually, and as above being lighter wasn't something I'd view as an improvement.

Does the play/pause button work OK with Volumio? That's the one new feature I'd actually be most likely to use if I got one.

To my surprise play/pause does not work with Bubbleupnp. When I use Volumio to play a track the play/pause button does work well.

The buttons as less rubbery and feel tighter.

After testing the SHD Studio for about 2 months some weeks ago, I now bought a new one for a quite ok price that was said to come with the remote v1. To my surprise the remote v2 was included instead and also the wifi dongle that I do not need. Both remote v1 and v2 have some pros and conts.

The volume buttons were placed better in v1. In v2 I think it could happen too easily to press another button accidentally. We will see.

With v2 the dirac button is placed better. Somehow I pressed it on v1 even if I did not want to. But I would prefer to have these preset/dirac buttons more out of the way. I think usually you will not need them frequently?

I am not sure if the input selection is placed better with v2 or not. Maybe it does not matter and I will get used to it.

The stand by button is uninteresting with the SHD Studio, because stand by does not save much. It does make sense with the SHD Power and I do not know about the SHD.

The biggest disadvantage with v2 indeed is the cr2032 battery. I prefer to use rechargeable batteries. But this decision was taken from me now.

Regarding the look & feel: I think there is no big difference. The new one will be mixed up with the amazon fire tv remote more easily. But the fire tv remote feels much better. The plastic from the minidsp remote feels cheap and the weight is too small. Anyway I think I can live with it.
