I have an MiniDSP SHD on order and am looking forward to using this product (and Dirac) to integrate two subs with my KEF LS50W based system. I'm new to Dirac but it doesn't look to be all that complicated.

In my current system, I stream music from my music library using JRiver via USB from my Windows 7 computer to an outboard DAC. It is clear that I can't use this Windows 7 machine for the SHD setup -- the documentation stipulates use of a Windows 10 or Mac (Mojave/Catalina). Accordingly, I plan to use my Mac (Catalina OS) when setting up the product (e.g., X-Over and Dirac filters).

But once the SHD setup is completed, can I use my Windows 7 machine for streaming purposes (that is JRiver outputting to the SHD USB Audio input?

Thanks in advance for any assistance on my question.

When running the subs via the SHD you have to compensate for the inherent delay of the LS50W. I tried to find the latency specs but could not find them... As they have a DSP doing all kind of stuff the delay could be significant and possible to large for the SHD to compensate for.

Thanks for pointing out potential latency issues. I'll keep it in mind -- although it's not a big concern. I currently run a similar approach to what I have planned for the SHD (i.e., using an analog high-pass together with a 2x4-HD for low-pass duty). A bit complicated to explain, but there are no issues I couldn't manage using the delay feature of the 2x4-HD. I checked the specs for the SHD and it allows for up to 30ms signal delay for each of the 4 output channels. I expect this will provide more than enough flexibility for my setup. As I'll be using the SHD's analog outs (3&4) for my Rythmik subs and digital outs (1&2) for the LS50W; if the DAC / digital X-over / DSP add a bit of delay, that's probably okay. Finally, my Rythmik subs have a true 0-to-180 degrees phase dial which adds additional flexibility. Of course, nothing is totally clear/certain until I finish SHD setup and do final REW measurements.

Anything that can stream to USB should work fine with the SHD.
