Well I ended up purchasing the Wiim mini streamer. I just didn’t like how Bluetooth was draining the battery of my tablet.

It’s a great little streamer and the installation was easy. Very glad to have Tidal Connect back. The only drawback was that the Wiim increased in price here in Europe. It used to be 89 euro and now it’s around 107 euro. Price on Amazon.com is still 99 usd. But so be it.

I do hope that Spotify will come up with their Hifi version in Q3 or Q4. Last time I tried to transfer my liked songs via Tunemymusic the amount of songs was limited to I think 999. Now it’s suddenly 500, and if you want more you need to go premium. And if you leave premium the synced songs in Tidal will be reduced again.

If Spotify ever do actually release a lossless service it's not going to be 96 kHz....

Edit: actually I was mixing you up with @Notman there  .

Michelangelo from Volumio here.

As you might know, your beloved MiniDSP products run a custom version of Volumio, namely Volumio OEM. Volumio OEM is a "special" version of Volumio that we develop and maintain for our partners. It is a special version because it integrates tailor-made code to allow perfect operation of the system, customizations at UX level, and much more.

Volumio OEM operates on a different logic and time schedule compared to ordinary Volumio. The reason is that on the OEM side, the main priority is to provide a flawless software and integration. When you purchase a ready-made product, the last thing you want is to have to deal with issues, which is instead something that is more acceptable in the DIY market. This means that what you see in Volumio, takes some more time to be ported also on OEM versions: only when it's 100% rock-solid and stable. On top of that, porting some features (like TC) require extra time just to get the necessary agreements and certifications with the service providers.

I can understand the frustration of some of you who would love to see TIDAL Connect running on their MiniDSP units, and I am here to address what is the current situation. Although it has never been publicly announced, MiniDSP is pushing hard to make this happen, and Volumio Team and MiniDSP team are taking the necessary steps to do so. Those sorts of things require time and I am here to state that mainly the responsibility of this is on Volumio's side.

I can assure you that MiniDSP is our most proactive partner and they are really involved in making it better, they have a strong feeling on what customers want and they push to make it happen. So, although we can't promise if and when this feature will come to your units, please know that MiniDSP and Volumio are working hard to make it happen.

I hope this helps to appreciate MiniDSP and Volumio's efforts to provide you guys with products that evolve over time, without sacrificing quality and stability. You can be sure that you purchased a system that will constantly evolve over time and has competent teams behind it, which I think is quite unique in today's market.

Over two months later… no updates, and no acknowledgement whatsoever by miniDSP itself.

is the implementation trough tidal itself so it will support tidal connect direct or is it through volumio?

Thank you soooo much!!!!! I'm so glad that the Volumio team actually cares enough to post to the MiniDSP user forums!

...Because MiniDSP DEV team doesn't care AT ALL about their customers clearly and just wants to ignore the mass requests for info!!!

Praise be Mikelangeloz!!!!!! Thanks for the awesome news!!!

Any idea what the ETA for how long certification will take?  When might us plebeian end-users actually see the completed software update roll out to our SHD's?

my question needs to be clarified.... is the tidal connect feature reliant on volumio being updated, as in its still part of the volumio ecosystem. or is this completely built into the SHD itself? I wasn't asking if tidal connect works from the tidal app, but rather is tidal connect being supported THROUGH volumio or did Minidsp actually go to tidal and get it certified without the need of volumio completely?

this is a very important question. roon is garbage, still forces subscription on top of subscription. and volumio does the same thing. extra monthly fee. this is just unacceptable at this price if we need to sub to the volumio plus to have tidal connect

There is no monthly fee for Volumio on SHDs. As described above, this is a distinct version from the generally available product with one notable difference being Qobuz and Tidal support is present for no additional cost.

ok that is fantastic news. I'm sure all of the ither users here will also be happy to hear that after years of marketing they are following through on a feature that was suppose to be in it. thanks for the updates

You're being totally unreasonable. The SHD series have supported Tidal from launch, at which point Tidal Connect didn't even exist.

Thanks for the updates @mikelangeloz. Personally I'm hoping Qobuz can introduce their own 'Connect' functionality that will eventually come to the SHD series too.

oh someone always has to troll the comment. wouldn't he a community if someone didn't do it. somehow a thank you can get turned into an F U lol. don't be so sensative. FYI tidal connect was around but it was exclusive in the beginning. anyways is there an estimate on how long the process takes? just curious because I ordered a wiim a couple days before this update and wondering if I should return it before I open it.

@djfirestorm accusing me of trolling this forum is hilarious . Also, if you had simply said thank you rather than turning your post into a criticism I would have posted nothing.

Anyway, the good thing is Tidal Connect functionality is on the way  .

Hi everyone, a little question, do you know if Volumio read master quality format of Tidal? Or only hi-fi sound? (and with Tidal connect, same thing?)

If yes I will buy an sdh if not I will take a flex 😇
