Dear All

The good news is in from the Tidal side: They just finalized the certification process and issued the license. :-)
Volumio team will push the latest version v1.125 in the coming few hours. Once you upgrade over the air, you will be able to discover your SHD as a device as Tidal Connect Device.

We've heard your feedback and learned from this experience. Providing support, constant upgrades and managing expectations of a community isn't as trivial as it seems.. Hopefully people can understand from the various people that gave their feedback based from their experience. The exciting part of a growing company, there is never a dull moment and always something to improve upon. :-)

Enjoy,

I see that Tidal Connect is now available after update. Great to see! Question: It seems to only play at HiFi and not Master quality. Am I missing something or is that by design? I have an RPi4 with latest Volumio configured with Tidal Connect and it can playback at Master quality. Seems to be a limitation on the SHD/Volumio implementation.

it doesn't support mqa but it doesn't really matter because we can't actually hear much above anyways. mqa is 90% of the time upsampled anyways.
I can however say that this sounds so much better than when it is on Roon. it's night and day better with connect.

Bear in mind that the SHD can't do any MQA 'unfolding'. This probably makes the HiFi stream the better choice.

Thanks for the response. To clarify, I am aware of the inability to unfold MQA fully but was expecting that it would stream at at least 48/24 like it does from my RPi4 Volumio or the built-in volumio on SHD. It does sound ok but to me the difference is noticeable.

the pie is software unfolding still, but what are you using to push it out of the pie? what hifi add on do you have? that's probably what sounds better NOT the sample rate tbh

Ok guys.. We tried our best to make sure everybody would read the Forum rules. I guess that message got lost somehow. Here they are:
www.minidsp.com/forum/forum-rules

It unfortunately doesn't seem that it's possible in this case so we're going to clean up all the offensive messages here and close this thread to let the mind cool down.

In the history of miniDSP, we've never had to "Ban" someone (or a group) for bad behavior, everybody has always behaved on the premise that we're all here to use this community to discuss and share ideas/comments/suggestions for improvements. If it's becoming toxic , it won't work and we've already received quite few complains from community members on the general tone of some of you. Like any other community (ASR/AVSforum..etc) , try to have such language and you'd get banned/moderated. The fact that you have purchased a product doesn't entitle you to be rude I'm afraid.. :-(

So please refrain from engaging each others this way. Enjoy your Tidal Connect experience (purpose of this thread) and let's all move along! Thanks for your help.

As for putting at rest the idea that Volumio is running on 16bit, we're not sure where that statement comes from but let's put this issue at rest with a measurement with Audio Precision APX555: 384kHz or 192kHz File on Volumio - > SPDIF out - > APX555 input

Enjoy your music! :-)
