Hi everyone, a little question, do you know if Volumio read master quality format of Tidal? Or only hi-fi sound? (and with Tidal connect, same thing?)

If yes I will buy an sdh if not I will take a flex 😇

I'll mention two things which are probably relevant to your decision whilst not directly answering your question:
  1. The SHD series cannot 'unfold' MQA files.
  2. A Flex running Dirac Live runs at an internal sample rate of 48 kHz whereas the SHD series models us 96 kHz.
For me the benefits of miniDSP products for EQ and subwoofer integration wildly outweigh the debatable benefits of higher res. music formats though.

Thanks you, your answer it is exactly my debate in my brain.

For more than 48 kHz, on Tidal, it is with MQA format, correct if it is wrong.

My sources are TV (blu-ray netflix) all in 48 kHz and Tidal. So without MQA, I have no benefit of 96 kHz actually, and take a prenium subscription too.
You understand now the origin of my question 😉
If not last choice Qobuz...

The higher internal upsampling probably is better for computing the whole EQ and dirac stuff, I think.  But I do not know if flex or SHDs do sound noticeably different.

Qobuz? Not at all as it's widely available in Europe and beyond. No use if you're in Canada though!

Qobuz has the poor interface compared to Spotify and tidal, no lyrics song, search engine, Playlist, messy,  less radio, etc... It works well hopefully. (it is my opinion, and I have not try amazon)

You will say, you can get room, yes, I am agree, but qobuz can do an effort too.

So sad for mqa, I have read the the thread after, and I understand minidsp team. Sadly Tidal grown a lot.

Thanks you all for your answer.

Qobuz beats Tidal on both sound quality and price for me but I would love to see a sort of 'Qobuz Connect' to be released. The presence of Tidal Connect on SHD now is the one thing in it's favour for me (but there's no way I'll swap for it).

I agree that Qobuz has better audio quality. I'm from Argentina and I have it since two months, as soon was abalible on Latin America.

I read (sorry I couldn't quote) Ultrasonic you wrote this "The presence of Tidal Connect on SHD now is the one thing in it's favour for me", I never knew that it's possible actually use Tidal Connect with Volumio on the SHD.
Could you explain me how to get it working.

Thanks a lot and sorry for my English.

Ok, so update for you: TIDAL Connect implementation has been completed and it's about to be sent for certification.

Any updates on this???  When might we expect the rollout??  It's been quite a while already!

I wouldn't hold my breath. I mean it's been nearly 2 years already 😂. other than those using this USB dac or source inputs as a  preamp, I bet 90% of those wanting the advertised features have moved on already. in only stuck with this because I spent the money and my wife won't let me change it out.

The implementation has been completed and devices sent for certification to Tidal about one month ago.
As soon as we receive green light from Tidal, it will be released via software update.
