Hi, I'm wondering how to integrate a separate DAC and preamp into my existing setup (SHD acting as preamp with outputs 1 & 2 going to my stereo amp and output 3 going to my powered subwoofer). I basically want my SHD to act as a Roon endpoint and Dirac processor only. So it would be something like SHD > DAC > Preamp > Subwoofer (RCA line out) and Amp (XLR line out). I would want my subwoofer to play with other inputs to the preamp, which is why I wouldn't run it from the SHD. I realize that I would only have Dirac on my streaming sources in this scenario, but would I lose the Dirac correction for the subwoofer? Or does the subwoofer have to be connected to one of the SHD outputs to be factored into the Dirac filter? I know the Dirac calibration runs in the SHD but I was wondering if having a subwoofer "downstream" would work.

Thanks!

Might a simple source selector switch between your SHD and subwoofer achieve what you want without the downgrade to your system that you're proposing? This sort of thing:

www.amazon.co.uk/HQ-3-Way-Stereo-Input-C...o+rca+switch&sr=8-17

Doing what you suggest would mean you'd lose the ability to set time delays and crossover filters between main speakers and subwoofer.

With what you proposed you could use Dirac for what you stream via Roon. Dirac should work the same as you presumably have it now, so one channel it sees will be the left channel plus sub and the other the right channel plus sub.

I DON'T think what you're suggesting is ap good idea though.
