Wait, what? If you have the input set to a digital input, say, and you turn off the unit, when you turn it back on it's not set to that digital input, but instead to LAN? I assume input settings do persist across a standby, at least, right?

The issue being referred to is I think that the first time you try to change the input it always jumps back to the LAN input. I don't use the control dial but this is what happens if I press the Source button on my remote.

Yes , that is it. The only way to deal with it and stop it auto switching back to LAN is stop the steam be it radio, roon . What other preamp in the world does that . Annoying and also baffling to guests

My PS Audio DirectStream DAC w/ BridgeII had the same behavior. I agree that it is annoying.

In SHD plugin you can select the inputs that you can switch between. If you use and select only two inputs you are ever only one click away from the other input. My SHD is set so it only shows LAN and USB as inputs.

The benefit of the auto choosing LAN input is, that if you start streaming something, the input is set to LAN. I like this behavior and did miss it when it did not happen in the older firmware.

Maybe it is better that you have to stop the stream first to be able to switch the input. Otherwise you would continue streaming in the background without recognizing it. Ok, the better solution was to send a "stop" to the streamer when switching away from LAN, but I can understand that this might be a little bit more complicated to implement.

Why is it better? To me it’s worse. The only input I would be concerned if it was running in background is the TT .

What means "TT"?

Why I prefer the behavior: I often wondered why the music did not play when starting to stream via an upnp app. After a moment of being a little bit shocked (what has gone broken now?) I recognized that I had to switch the input to LAN. I am not used to this, because my previous device did do this automatically, too. Sure I could learn to switch it manually.

The switching is indeed a little buggy. Sometimes when switching to toslink the input toggles back to LAN or USB without any reason. On the second switching it stays io toslink. This happens not every time for me, but sometimes.

Turntable I expect.

This is what I find too and was actually what I thought we were already talking about.

The only time I've experienced that was when the battery in my remote control was low. Changing the battery stopped it.

I have the same problem and it also shows when using miniDSP RC commands send by my Harmony remote, so it is not related to batteries I think.

I think there is a clear sw bug somewhere in the SHD firmware...

How often you get this? I've had my SHD since January and have only had the one brief period I saw this, prior to changing the batteries in my remote. This was months ago now.

What firmware version have you been running when you've seen this?

Glad not just me . Part of me yearns for a old school pre with nice big rotary switches on the front. Btw it’s not a show stopper . Love my shd . A thought ...is there some software that could emulate a phono stage possible in the shd ?
