Hi,

First post here... and I hope someone can help me with my queries.

I think the SHD Power may be my ideal solution. I have a pair of Dynaudio Special 40 speakers and I would like to use the SHD Power as my sole music solution.

I have MESH wi-fi throughout the home with a satellite very close to where the SHD Power will be situated, so I can use the ethernet cable to connect, which I understand is the ideal way to connect the SHD Power. Is this a suitable solution?

When setting up the SHD Power I can use a MacBook to do this including running the room corrections. My queries is do I have to have the Mac connected to the SHD Power once the set up is complete? Can I disconnect and use the SHD Power stand alone connected to my MESH satellite and still have the room corrected?

I use Tidal and access it via my iPad. Can I still do this with SHD Power?

I also have a SSD with stored music from iTunes. Can I connect the SSD to the SHD Power and using Tidal via my iPad still access the stored music using tidal?

Also can I transfer downloaded songs from Tidal to the SSD connected to the SHD P without a computer connected to the SHD P?

I hope I've explained what I am trying do. Apologies if not totally clear as I'm not that great at technology!

Hardwired network is preferable to Wifi, yes.
The Mac does not need to be connected after setup.
Yes, the room correction details are uploaded from the Mac to the SHD Power during setup so correction is always available.

Note that to use Tidal you'll have to do so via the Volumio app on the SHD, rather than the main Tidal app I'd guess you're used to. I use this but I'll be honest it's not as good as Tidal's own interface.

You access Volumio by browsing to it in your web browser of choice. Accessing files on an external hard drive will also be via Volumio.

(I believe it is possible to use an alternative to Volumio but this is the intended setup and you'll need more knowledgeable/skills to do something else.)

Instead of the Volumio app you can use Bubbleupnp (on Android). It's a much nicer app. Bubbleupnp recognises your Tidal favourites. So all Tidal favourites you can play directly from the app.

ah so are you saying its a "pain" to use Tidal on the Volumio app? As you will gather I'm not that great with technology and I'm a iPad / Mac user, so any solution needs to be simple :)

Maybe Volumio will develop a plugin for Tidal and Mac and iPad users?

I've only used Volumio on Windows and Android rather than iOS but I wouldn't describe it as 'a pain'. It's perfectly usable but other interfaces are better.

Ah it looks as though I may have a problem - Volumio is meant to run on a dedicated device, so you cannot install it on top of Mac OS X.

Darn all kit is OS x

No, you've misunderstood there. Volumio is installed on the SHD itself, you'd just be controlling it via a webpage interface.
