I'm trialing Roon on a late-model MacMini as a Roon Core. SHD-Studio setup as Roon endpoint (selected in Volumio).... no issues there.

But, what is the best / proper way to connect a Roon Core to allow the SHD-Studio to act as a Roon endpoint? I see 3 potential options but not sure which is correct, or if they would all work?

1. Connection from Roon Core to SHD via ethernet cable.
2. Connection from Roon Core to SHD via USB.
3. Roon Core connected to router. SHD connected to router.

Anyone have experience with this? Cheers and thanks.
