I have just ordered an SHD Studio.

I have an Australian-made Gieseler Klein III DAC and mine is the USB-only model using an Amanero USB board. It's an excellent DAC.

Is it possible to take a SPDIF or Toslink output from my SHD Studio and then use an MCHStreamer, powered by a USB hub, to feed my USB input to my DAC, or am I going to need to buy a DAC with SPDIF/Toslink inputs.

thanks,
David

I think MCHStreamer implements USB to S/PDIF and Toslink but not the reverse.
There are a few convertors to USB but they tend to be USB Devices that expect to connect to a USB Host such as a PC.
I rather suspect your DAC is a USB Device that expects the thing driving it to be a USB Host such as a PC.
This suggests none of the few things available would work anyway, so buying a different DAC may be the only solution,

In which case wouldn't stumping up the extra cash for the SHD be more economical?

Thanks @entripy and @asx77.

Budget-wise I wanted to buy the Studio as opposed to the full SHD and I certainly also want to stay with the manufacturer of my DAC (gieseler.com.au), even if I have to upgrade in his range to get one with a SPDIF input.
