So I have the SHD setup and loving it so far, only I'm running into one issue: Apparently the integrated Netflix app on my TV does not follow my TV settings. I have a Panasonic 55CX800 set to output PCM audio via TOSLINK to my SHD. This all works well for pc->tv->shd, tv->shd and other apps->shd. Whenever I use the netflix app however it sends a dolby digital signal to the SHD (does not matter if i choose a stereo audio stream or 5.1 stream or whatever within netflix). I therefore do not get any audio output when trying to view netflix via my TV. I've googled around and this seems to be a common issue that i doubt will be fixed any time soon.

There are a few options such as a chromecast or using my htpc to watch netflix, but I'd like to keep the number of devices to a minimum and I guess you get used to that big netflix button on the remote actually providing you netflix content. I have come across the following product . I was wondering if any of you have experience with something like this that takes an ARC signal and downmixes it to stereo to give it to my shd. I wonder what it would do to the audio quality (would it decode it better or worse than my TV is now doing?). I am a bit hesitant to add this possibly dodgy product to an otherwise relatively expensive audio chain :P

Yeah, this is a dealbreaker for me. I will probably sell my MiniDSP unless I can figure out a way to watch movies and have stereo sound.

I just bought a new LG TV, looking forward to watching movies from the native Netflix app, and can only get echos of voices on my stereo system. There is no option to change the "Dolby 5.1" to a straight stereo.

While music sounds great, Movies don't work. And it's not a problem with the MiniDSP. It just can't take the 5.1 optical out. PCM only.

That's irritating...
I am using a LG OLED bought last year, probably built 2020 without any problems with my SHD. The optical output always feeds PCM stereo to my SHD, regardless which app on the TV is in use. Of course Netflix works well this way. Are you sure that you have tried all possible settings?

Yeah, Prime video, Youtube, Xfinity thru the LG TV go through the PCM stereo setting. Netflix only does Dolby Digital + and there's no way to change it. Problem with Netflix app and LG, not the MiniDSP.

Forgive me, I think I was just excited to watch a 4k movie with a kick ass sound system, and was frustrated. I will connect an old XBOX and see if I can get the sound and Netflix 4k correct through that.

Hmm, what is the exact model of your TV?
Did you disable the latency settings within the "Audio Menu"?
Sorry, my TV's menus are set to German, so I don't know the precise names for the individual settings.
