My whole music collection is on external USB drive. Most files are in FLAC, Apple Lossless and DSD128/ DSD256 formats.

Will I be able to play them with SHD?

Yes

The access to your FLAC files is via Volumio, which is a totally independent system inside the SHD., and is seen via web type interface on smart phones, computer or tablets.

Volumio can find your FLAC files via a network drive or directly plugged into the USB on the back of the SHD . There is only one USB on the SHD which is where the supplied WiFi dongle goes , so if you need WiFi then your Flac files need to be on your network

When you first get your SHD please read the update process as it is very specific, not hard but specific

One last thing, the SHD can accept a max of 32/96 bit files so inside Volumio you will want to use that setting , Volumio wi then do all the conversions.

Just FYI SHD does not play DSD directly

I used to have a DAC that would play up to 512DSD . I now only have my FLAC 16/44 files on a USB drive plugged directly into the SHD.

My Volumio settings are 32/96 with Resampling set to High, add the benefit of the DIRAC impact and I would not go back to my DSD DAC
