My system is greatly simplified MiniDSP SHD, USB Drive with Flac 16/44 files, and two Crown Amps Bi-Amping two tower speakers. with a single sub, Bi amping way overkill but I had the two amps so I am using them.

Volumio is on a completely different system inside the SHD, therefore in the PLAYBACK SETTINGS area you want to chose "Native" for both Bit Rate and Sample Rate, why because otherwise Volumio is processing the digital file before it sends to the SHD DAC and then the SHD DAC is reprocessing that file and double processing does not make it better.

The difference is not big, but on my system there was a positive difference when I set it to Native

Also I set the Resample Rate to Low Not sure if this has any impact ?? since I use the Native Setting

These settings allowed better listening highs BTW imaging and sound is stunning. I have only done a first attempt with DIRAC and I like what I am hearing

I have communicated with MiniDSP support and was given the following information

1. Volumio is strictly a render of music files and this is done 100% in the digital domain.

2 Volumio does not have a DAC in it

3 Volumio then sends the digital file to the SHD DAC which does the conversion to analog

4. It was "indicated" that Volumio can accept 32/96 bit digital files so that might be a good idea, I took their recommendation

5. Remember, The Volumio system is an entirely separate system inside the SHD which is used solely to read and prepare music files on USB or Network drives. In addition it is used to provide access web base music such as Spotify etc.

My first post is now corrected by this new info
