Bluetooth connetion for SHD? 3 years 6 months ago #48526

All,

I would like to add a bluetooth interface to my SHD. My friend would like to connect their phones and some apps have the casting option disabled such as Zoom. So I can't simply connect those sources to my SHD system.

There are tons of good Bluetooth to analogue devices available such as the iFi ZEN Blue but it makes no sense going from digital to analogue and then connect to the inputs of SHD. And again go through the ADC / DAC of the SHD.

Is there is way to add a bluetooth device to the LAN and have it function as a media server and then connect that server to the SHD ?

Any suggestions/advice is much appreciated.
regards, Peter

@ Juoigâ: I learned that the new Qualcomm chip CSR8675 is the key component. It supports 24 bit DAC/ADC HD streams over Bluetooth 5.0. But I understand the air interface still uses compression to transport the full stereo HD stream.

I found a similar device with Bluetooth 5.0 and Toslink SPDIF. I'll order one and share my experience.

Thanks so far.

I use this one with my SHD Studio: www.audiophonics.fr/en/wireless-receiver...k-spdif-p-13485.html

Hey, I was looking at that same device for my SHD, but didn't end up ordering it, because I was afraid the pairing process would be difficult - can you share how that part works?

The unit works to my satisfaction.

Place the SDH in the Toslink mode. Once the BT unit is powered on the pairing is fairly simple as follows:
- you push the power button twice quickly and the led starts blinking.
- you go to your ipad (or whatever device) and connect to the BT unit which shows up in my case as BTI-029.
* ready*

A nice-to-have would have been: an auto pairing function i.e. once you re-enter the house, the pairing automatically happens. Like in your car.

Yikes, that's even worse than I feared - the "pairing" is supposed to be done only once per device. After that it's "connecting" - and that should definitely happen automatically :/

it just sits behind my TV and does what it's supposed to do... not much more to say about it. Pair once, and devices (phone, laptop) will autoconnect . I have it connected to the SPDIF of the SHD Studio.

Do you need to press any physical buttons to pair additional devices? Or does it enter pairing mode if no clients are connected?

no buttons on the unit :silly: from memory it will go in pairing mode after power on, but since that was some time ago I'm not sure (can't find the UM)
