Hi:

I am contemplating the purchase of the SHD to pair with my JBL 708P and I was wondering if anybody is connecting the SHD directly with his/her powered speakers and what was the result

I also would pair it with a SVS SB13 Ultra

TIA

Hi There.
You will find a few here who connect direct to powered or 'Active' Speakers. I use a SHD Studio with digital inputs, and outputting digital to Kii Three active speakers. I also use the SHD to manage cross over and output to sub - in my case via a DAC.
Result is great and I think it is one of the core use cases for the SHD range.
The nature of your inputs (eg any analogue like TT) and preferred connection to JBLs (digital looks fine from quick look) and Sub (analogue) will dictate whether you are better with SHD or SHD Studio. Form factor may also have an influence - I preferred the small er Studio.

It should work fine. One good thing about the miniDSP digital outputs is a valid 96khz AES/SPDIF signal is always maintained so your speakers should never unlock.
In certain cases the 708p's can exhibit nasty clicking/popping when intermittently losing the data stream and/or seeing sample rate changes.

Really good speakers. Good luck.

Dave.
