I'm planning to use my SHD to digitise some of my vinyl LPs. Just did a test using Audacity software on Windows 10 with portable connected to USB Audio Control port on SHA.

Works fine - but, to get a good recording level, the SHA master volume has to be set to 0dB - this is with 'SHD Line Input' set to maximum level on PC. This made me investigate a bit further. I had thought (now think that this was incorrect) that the USB Audio output would come before processing of PEQ but I not think that this is not so - if I mute individual channel outputs then this mutes the USB Audio output.

So, looks like USB audio out comes AFTER any processing - DIRAC, PEQ, Crossover?

Looks like I'll have to set one of the configurations up on SHD so that no processing is applied and then use this to record - but do this with my power amplifiers switched off because the SHD is connected directly to them.

Is this how the USB Audio Output is meant to work - of am I missing something?

Unfortunately that does seem to be the case, from the manual "The SHD Series processor sends its four output channels to the computer over USB. These can be used to monitor or record the output channels of the processor."

With all the processing already applied you would have to replay it back through the SHD with processing disabled and it could never be replayed properly through any other system or even through different SHD presets

With many folk using SHD as a preamp these days it would seem more useful to send out the selected input so it can be replayed back through any SHD later. Pretty much like any traditional preamplifier Tape Out has always worked.

So maybe I'm missing something too because I'm not really seeing a big use case for the way it is done.
