Apologies if these topics have been discussed, my search-fu just isn't what it should be.

First question, is there any...ANY way to change the software from eye-burning pure white into a darker color that doesn't double the current requirements of my monitor O_o...

Seriously, bright white, I mean. Ow. My retinas.

Second, is there any way to have the now playing panel in Volumio display the unit's actual volume level (on the -0 scale) rather than 0/100? Any way to limit the range of it, too? Pretty much all of my usable level range is between 70 and 90..under 50 or so is completely inaudible...which is a very, very delicate dance with the pinky on a touch screen, lest you unleash a 240v/40a circuit worth of amplifiers balls deep into a room full of 8 foot tall horn subs. Not going to solve it with compressors, as occasionally this behavior happens on purpose...it's more of a.....weapons grade jump scare. A range would be amazing so the entire dial could be used, and at the same time, allows a person to limit how high the level can be raised via the app....I'm not sure if I like it that if my wife wanted to troll me right now, she could open http://shd and set my level to +0 with a mouse click. She won't, but I still don't like it, and I supercallafrajalisticexpialadoshus don't want one of my kids to do it by accident. That would be bad.

Third...the scaling. I'm not sure if it's something I have set wrong in windows, but this laptop has a 4k panel on it, and with the display scaling at 200%, the interface for the DSP (shd.exe) is absolutely atrocious. The fonts are just bad. I dunno, maybe this is another thing that could be solved with theme settings / windows. Maybe let the software talk to windows in that special way that'll get dark mode and display scaling sorted all at once? I dunno, I'm just a goof, don't listen to me.

Fourth...while I was tinkering with setup last night, I noticed both my 10x10 and the new SHD use a 12v wall wart. Is there any...technical reason why I couldn't just make a nice little 5 amp 12v linear supply and power them both from the same supply?

Fifth...what about if we could get the software for the PWR-ICE to (quickly tries to make sure it in face doesn't) discover the SHD? One step further...all of my dsp boxes now, 10x10, SHD Studio, and both PWR-ICE-250 all have 4 presets...

Yes, one day I dream of unified DSP software...linking of presets...more presets...infinite presets.....yessssss....infinite presets, dark mode, unified software, Volumio not pretending people actually use 1-100 level range, oh and, yeah, remote ID's would be nice, now I've got 2 branded MiniDSP remotes and the two of them don't really like each other, always trying to fight...I wonder if there's a small internal adjustment I could make to one of them that might make it so I'd have to program it, but they at least wouldn't argue and I could have a 10x10 one and an SHD one. I know, dreaming right.

If anything else crops up, I'll edit this post, we're still on day 1, I just barely made a little 8" XLR plug to go between the SHD and the 10x10. I'm pretty pumped about this synergy with the 10x10, I can use the entire 10x10 for multisub, use the SHD for mains to subs crossover, pwr-ice 250 plates take the aes/ebu...so simple now, just aes/ebu all the way.

Which software are you talking about? The plugin? It's not crazy white or bright on my laptop. It's grey not white. This is Windows 10 in case the Mac version is different.

Ultimately the plugin isn't something used that much so it shouldn't be a big deal.

The SHD has a built in power supply but presumably you have an SHD Studio. Yes you can use different 12V external supplies. There has been some discussion about this recently here:

www.minidsp.com/forum/minidsp-for-newbie...-for-minidsp-4x10-hd

Edit: just realised I missed that you were asking about powering two units from a single supply. You can get some with two outputs that could certainly power both but I'm not sure if there is a simple way to do so with a unit designed with just a single output.

Well, I am exaggerating a bit, it's not full on #FFF white. It goes along with this new MiniDSP white/purple thing, whatever. It's not a color choice that works well given not being able to change it. At least the older plugins were dark gray and yellow / orange, this full on bright thing makes it look like an app for an operating room breathing machine or something. It's unnerving.

Edit: Yeah, the power supply thing, I mean build one really stout 12v power supply and run them both from the single 12v supply, just strapped right up in parallel. I've even got a couple of 1 - 4 dc power splitters that came with my security cameras, I'm thinking as long as the single supply is capable of providing more current than both units draw, it should be cool, at least that's the theory. I'll wait and see if one of the engineers wants to clear that idea before I break something.

For what it's worth I think the older dark plugins look horrible compared to the white-ish ones :) .

I mean, I guess...maybe if you're used to it, I dunno.

Look at Spotify...Tidal...Youtube has a dark mode in beta, but I go one step farther than that even, I've got a browser addon that drops dark mode on everything. Apple just added a dark mode for MacOS, which looks great, the newest Windows update, you guessed er, dark mode, works great. Music apps, dark. OS, dark. Android tv apps / displays on the big screen? All dark. Everything.

Here's MiniDSP's new look though, we're going the other way, dark wasn't working said nobody, let's go with the MRI machine control panel. :P

Sorry, I really hate loud colors and no choices, especially when it's laid over the top of Volumio. I gotta figure out how to get into the system files and have me a wee edit, maybe.

Edit: Oh! The Darkreader addon I have for the browser works on the volumio interface, so I can sorta un-minidsp that one, but the new SHD plugin, I guess that one will be the white head on top of my dark base of 10x10 and pwr-ice plugins, and here my brain goes on the "why the hell aren't all these dsp units accessible from one app now anyway AHHHHHH

You know what's really awesome, the picture of the remote in the user manual shows a remote with track forward and back, which I'd love to have...but it seems that one didn't ship with the SHD until a couple of months after I buy it, of course. Talk about a weapons grade irritation.

Story of my life.

Managed to cure most of my problems with various features in the usual MiniDSP fashion, by simply not using them. I really gotta stop collecting boxes that should have stayed in the oven for a few more minutes.
