Hi,

I can´t connect to my SHD using the IP address field in the SHD plugin, but it connects fine using an USB Cable. Have tried both the automatic setting and with various IP addresses.

I can however connect to the SHD streaming "playback" web page, and I can see the SHD´s IP address (192.168.1.181) when checking devices on my network, so the error seems to be in the SHD plugin.

Any tips for connecting the plugin via network?

IP connection requires the Wi-DG I think. The network port on the SHD only connects to the Volumio hardware, not to the main SHD hardware, hence you need an ethernet to USB adaptor such as the Wi-DG.

And be aware that you can't use dirac via wi-DG. You still need USB.

Indeed, which caused me to sell my Wi-DG because if you can run a USB cable to the SHD, there's no use for it that I could see.

I have the new "Wi-DG" mini USB-dongle (no documentation available yet) but I can´t connect the SHD plugin with this Usb to WiFi adapter anyway. I probably need to use the USB cable for all my configurations, (it´s a bit strange to design a new product as the SHD without full wifi configurability).

The Wi-DG is a bit tricky to set up and defaults to a mode that wasn't useful to me. Any new mini one is likely to have the same features as the original which is documented and needs to be read. I did get mine working but it is definitely not plug and play.

I'm personally glad there's no internal wifi. High quality audio and radio broadcasting don't mix well without a huge amount of attention and some luck.

if you stick to the manual, it's pretty easy. I think Fredrik refers to the wifi dongle. This is for volumio and streaming. Wi-DG is for control via plugin or app. But it's not worth the Money since you can't use it for dirac. I use it for little configuration work with the plugin once in a while, but after a certain time there is nothing to configure anymore.

Thanks chrissy. This makes it a lot more understandable. I did not understand that the two different wifi adapters were so different.
