Hi, first post. I searched and read 2 threads on this topic already but can't seem to find anyone with my particular problem.

I just received the SHD this week and I can't for the life of me get the USB connection to a Macbook Pro 13 early 2015 with Catalina 10.15.3 to remain connected. The SHD app either fails to connect or drops the connection after a few seconds, longest it stays connected is a minute. I can sometimes launch Dirac 2 but never get further than select recording device before error messages start popping up about lost connection. I have managed to get past several hurdles like the privacy settings for UMIK but this simply defeats me. I am not a Mac-guy but did SMC and NVRAM resets with the help of Google which supposedly can fix USB problems but no luck. SHD sw is 1.8d2 and firmware 1.10, plus Dirac 2.4. I tried several uninstall/reinstall of the SHD software. Same behavior on both USB ports (which to me suggest software issue?). One more thing to note is I did fart around quite a bit at first when Dirac couldn't pick up the microphone due to Catalina, and I think at some point it was more stable than this. I am sorry to say I wouldn't know what I did if I caused this.

Something to note, I had an idea and moved the SHD into my office and connected it to a stationary Win10 PC, same USB cable. It works perfectly, the SHD app has been connected for 2 hours now. Sadly, this PC is not particularly mobile so I really need this to work with the Macbook.

Any ideas would be welcome!

Hello,

Did you solve your issue? I am in the EXACT same position.
MBP 2015 Catalina, "Connection to DSP Closed" message appears a few seconds after connection.
When I am trying to use the SHD as a sound card it appears and disappears from the list of available sound cards every other second.

Tried SMC and NVRAM resets.
USB ports work with any other peripheral, and the SHD is stable with my iMac Catalina too but I can't move it.

Thanks,

Yes, I did resolve it eventually. However I am not 100% certain how I did it as I unfortunately got a bit frustrated after many hours and lost track of what change actually fixed it.

Something you could try;

Update SHD firmware. I did this from my stationary computer.
Use the left hand USB port on the Mac. I still can't use the right hand USB port.
Try a different cable. I am not certain this is an issue but I am not using the supplied USB cable.

I also updated MacOS, uninstalled antivirus but I don't think that made a difference.

Good luck!
